Ole miss Schedule.
Oct 29, 2014, 11:51 AM
|
|
Yesterday I pointed out that Clemson has won 5 games in a row. I then was told by some Tiger fans on Tigernet that the offense stinks and they have a right to complain and that 3 of the wins do not really count because we should have blown them out(except maybe Louisville). I was then asked how did I think Clemson would have done if they would have had to play a tuff schedule like Ole Miss. My response is I believe Clemson is going to win every game they play. Then I looked up the difficult schedule of #4 Ole Miss..... Here it is
Boise State, Vanderbilt,Louisiana–Lafayette ,Memphis, Alabama,Texas A&M, Tennessee,LSU . Against those 7 I say we are 7 and 0. Alabama is a very good team. Texas A&M is good but not great. Tennessee is good not great and LSU is good not great. There remaining schedule is Auburn, Presbyterian, Arkansas, Mississippi State. We could win any of those games! The Clemson defense is as good as any team in the nation they would keep us in any game even with Deshawn out we have play makers and they have made and would make enough plays to win. I guess I would rather find things to be happy about than to gripe and be miserable with everything. Go Clemson win them all by 100 or 1 it a win!

Seriously. I'm glad we are winning games recently. But we had the FSU game handed to us on a platter, and we crapped the bed. Until we start beating them on a regular basis I don't see what talking about Mississippi's rank/schedule does for us. Furthermore, it's absurd to suggest we'd be undefeated with their schedule.

Spiller why is absurd? You yourself watched us outplay FSU which all the powers that be acknowledge as being # 2 right now . They were # 1 when we played them. The best team did not win that one. No team on that schedule is better than FSU and if Alabama or Miss State played them its a toss up. You are so negative about Clemson football. That is your prerogative but it cant be much fun.

so negative about Clemson football because I think it's absurd to whine about SEC OOC schedules and media bias, etc when we can't win an FSU game that was literally gift wrapped and hand delivered to our doorstep. I'm sorry, but all this WELL WE ALMOST BEAT FSU crap means nothing.

playing the toughest OOC schedules. Can you match Bama, Aurburn, Ole Miss, Miss State and LSU to their respective OOC schedule ...
So. Miss UAB South Alabama UT Martin
Wisconsin Sam Houston LA Monroe New Mexico State
San Jose State Kansas State LA Tech Samford
Boise State LA Lafayette Memphis Presbyterian
WVU Florida Atlantic Southern Miss Western Carolina
Clearly - an ACC schedule can't be compared to this in strength of schedule.

know that it is. I say that playing Louisville, BC, GT is just as tough as Arkansas, LSU and Tenn. How do you prove any different? They have to meet on the field and 3 teams from 1 conference does not prove anything.

FSU and Clemson are clearly the class of the ACC... We essentially play the ACCCG early in the season.
There isn't another stretch of conference games, for either of us, that would equal playing AU, LSU, Bama, TAMU, Ole Miss...
i'm not saying it's right at all, and i dont buy the SEC hype... but I do think the ACC is rather weak outside of us and FSU

best non-FSU teams on our conference schedule and compared that to probably the #5 and #7 teams in the SEC West, and the 4th or 5th best team in the East.
Now compare the rest of the schedules. Bama, Auburn, Miss St, Texas A&M, and Vandy vs FSU, UNC, NC State, Cuse, and Wake.
Miss St and FSU are fairly comparable. Vandy is bad, but Wake is even worse. Texas A&M isn't great, but they are way better than UNC, NCST, Cuse, or Wake. Bama and Auburn are light years better than any of those non-FSU ACC teams.

The problem with your argument is that you do not know that because they do not play each other... Nobody picked VT to beat Ohio St, or BC to beat The USC. You do not know, unless they play.

for us to lose at Wake Forest next week, but would that make them a better team? Of course not. Even head to head results can't determine which team is better with absolute certainty. That's why baseball and basketball playoffs play 7 game series. The more games, the more accurate the results. Of course football can't feasibly do a series due to the nature of the sport so we get single elimination - the most random and least accurate way possible to determine a champion.

Let's focus on seeing if we can score more than 10 points against Wake Forest, shall we?

I totally agree, tmac. I can't figure out why our fans think we could compete in the sec with the way we have been performing. I mean, do people not understand that the only reason we beat BC was because they dropped 2 TD passes and missed an extra point.

I guess technically your right, tiger5. You just go ahead and bank on teams dropping easy passes and missing extra points, and see how many games we win. Everyone talks about how when Bowden was the coach we lost games like that and now we win them. The only diffence between now and then is they catch those passes and made those kicks back then. Rationalize it however you want, that game was won with luck, something Clemson had no control over.

No we shall not. Football has 2 sides and our defense is great! If we were winning 72 to 50 everyone would be talking about how great we are yet our defense is just that good and were supposed to think we are scrapping by. I never once felt that way watching any of those. I have seen the high powered offense get stopped 5 years in a row. I like our chances better this year with the defense. The offense will figure out how to score enough!

You mean to tell me in the final minutes of the Boston College game you weren't holding your hands together, curled in a tight little ball, praying to Jesus that the clock would somehow wind down faster so we could pull that win out of our #####?
I was, not a good feeling. I have watched Ole Cole for 3 straight games run, what seemed under Watson, to be a great offense's name into the ground. Not saying we would have scored 50 points with DW on the field, but man...get real if you think that Watson wouldn't/couldn't have done a better job than what 3rd and Stoudt is doing.

I knew what you meant. Cole doesn't deserve anyone's respect or backing IMO. I think he is a great fella, but on the field he has given no Tiger Fans a reason to be behind his leadership or his decision making when the ball is in his hands.
He is much better suited to handle the clipboard

Yea, football has two sides. Our defense is great, no doubt about it. But our offense is downright horrible. We can't move the ball. The offense has only been able to score because our defense has put them in the right position. If any team we play gets any form of offensive momentum, we're dead in the water.
If we're going to be successful, we need to be at least serviceable in our weak area. In 2011, our offense was bad but our offense was great. In 2012 our defense was relatively weak but our offense was great. In 2013 our offense was great and our defense was good. We've always been at least "very good" on one side of the ball, and passable on the other. This year our defense is incredible but our offense, without Watson at least, is arguably in the bottom 5 in the country.

Love your support for our tigers but with the event this season with that schedule we may be 5-3. No way we beat A&M,Bama, or LSU with Cole Stoudt at QB. We can't score 21 points on teams like Syracuse???? They aint good. BC aint good??? They lost to Colorado State at Home. And We beat a injured Louisville team. If we played them over with Gardner at QB, Dyer at Running back and Parker at receiver. We get beat. Sorry its just realistic. Love your support. But it doesn't happen. Not with Cole. Hard to win games vs SEC when you have 4 turnovers. We should know that by now.

No doubt about it. However we're limping by bad teams at this point in our season, which makes me think maybe we shouldn't start suggesting we'd be 7-0 in the SEC West. Maybe if Deshaun had stayed healthy and continued progressing we could have some conversation, but he's not healthy and we have scored 33 points combined in two games against bad competition.

I did not describe their schedule whatsoever, I simply asked for your opinion.
7-0 with games against Alabama, LSU, & Texas A&M?
I don't like to insult anyone's age as I approach 40 but I believe you may be becoming senile.
