Overheard on the train to work today...

So I get on the train to go to work today, and sit next to two women, because of course that means I'll have more space to actually sit in the tiny seats. My mistake was not noticing that one of the women I sat next to was a chubby college aged chick who was chatting loudly with her friend across the aisle of the train.

Apparently they didn't care that nobody else in the train was talking, so they were forcing everybody else to listen to what they were saying, which of course included plenty of cussing- including f bombs. Or, maybe they knew that everybody else could hear them, because they went on to bestow on us their brilliant thoughts on politics and the state of our country.

Now, these were unattractive college girls who went to an urban campus, so their politics couldn't have been anything but progressive. But this was the most vapid, meme-ified, arrogant version of progressive politics which only 20 year old college girls could espouse.

Here were my favorite statements (which were shared with everyone on the train, mind you):

"I normally would take the bus, but I just had this feeling like I would see someone I knew from class, so I worked out for the first time since the election instead. I just haven't been able to work out since Trump was elected."

"I mean, I don't think all Republicans are bad people. I know a few really nice Republicans. It's just the ones in Congress..."
"Yeah, like, some conservatives are nice."

"If I saw Mitch McConnell, I'd punch him right in his ####### face."

"I'd really just like to see a Cory Booker/ Elizabeth Warren ticket in 2020, because Bernie Sanders will be dead by then."
"Cory Booker? He's the hot one, right?"
"Depends on your definition of hot. Anyway, the whole "and yet she persisted" thing just show how sexist the GOP is. And it was an archaic rule they used on her, anyway. I mean, they let a bunch of men say the same thing the next day!"
