Can some of you old timers help me out?
Didn't they play in the MEAC before begging to get into the ACC? Are they the ones who burn couches when they win?

Clemson grad here who lives in Roanoke:
Tech is a good school with a fine football tradition. Coach Beamer built a powerhouse program through developing players and emphasizing special teams. Their heyday was 20 years ago, but they dominated the ACC their first few years in the conference. Since then they hit a dry spell (like we did for 20 years), but they seem to be coming back.
I am amused that some for their posters think that this year's Hokies have proven themselves, but that doesn't take away from their history. I am as big a fan as any on this board, but let's show some respect and class, OK?

They were in the Big East I believe, along with Miami and Syracuse(?). The ACC got them about the same time I think. Miami and VT were very good in those days, but I don't think they had very hard schedules.
