Growing up, the only time pants were referred to as

"britches" was when a paddling/spanking was about to happen...as in "grab you by the seat of your britches and wear you out!"

So respectfully, I'll just call them orange pants because I don't see anybody wearing Orange Saturday getting spanked.

We must be from the same era because that was my thought as soon as I read your intro. I wore out the knees in my pants and my mom wore out the backside of them. It seems I was a bit of a slow learner back then.


I heard numerous time "I'm going to bust your britches"

For sure, britches held a very negative connotation.

No, no, no. That’s what it does mean. When we put on our orange britches we are going to wear you (insert opponents name) out!
