Or is this irresponsible when I have two kids in college?

Are you premidlife? If so this could cause early onset crisis.

Definitely Tundra if you can afford it. Both nice trucks, but much more room in the Tundra

Just too #### big

Family is downsizing and a smaller truck is all I need

get the v6 for tacoma or the 5.7 for the tundra. I had the 4 cylinder Tacoma and now have the 4.6 tundra. Can not pull much at all.

In that case, I don't really follow the "Decisions, Decisions" caption haha. I finally upgraded to my "dream" crew cab Silverado last year, and absolutely love having a full-size truck. Don't plan to go back to a mid-size truck unless I absolutely have to. But each to their own I guess. Both the Tundra and the Tacoma are very good trucks, that's for sure

Don't currently have a truck, want a truck, and have narrowed it down to two choices. This will require that a decision be made.

Feb 27, 2017, 5:50 PM [ in reply to Re: Decisions, decisions ]

I had a Tundra in 2007 the year they came out with the big body.
I loved that truck it was sweet but dang I about couldn't afford to put gas in it.
It would suck the bottom out the gas tank.
I traded it in 2011 for a 4 door frontier and I believe it's the best truck I have ever owned.

If that's you and your wife in the truck, she's looking at you like you've lost your mind.

HTHIA - you have been warned.

JK - but you had better hope you have a really good job.

Well, I had a Rambler station wagon (or truckster) that would not go over 70 mph but we got a long just fine. It was worth about $500. Just a little above scrap metal prices. Times have certainly changed.

Saw that orange one in a LOWS parking lot the other day and I was like "WOW thats a BA truck, I need to get one" then I looked at the tailgate and I saw A FREAKING GAMECOCK STICKER ON IT! I was like what a total idiot. I mean I just bought a new house and I wouldn't let my wife even use throw pillows that had garnet on them.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

buy it. I have a 2002 Tacoma. Best wualit

Feb 27, 2017, 6:10 PM

Truck you'll ever have. Resale value the highest. Ram seriously? Nice truck for initial value but it's a piece of #### and no one will want to buy it from you. No car payment for me for 20 years now. Handles well in mud, snow. Tacoma imo is the best truck made. Only complaint is small. Agree with other I would only buy a v6

Whichever one you decide on buy it slightly used 2-3 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Go for the Tacoma

Feb 27, 2017, 9:49 PM

I sold my 2005 Tundra (189,000 miles) a year ago this month and bought a new '16 v6 Tacoma. Absolutely love it. I already have 40k miles on it (been to Utah pulling a light pop-up camper, Florida Keys, etc.). Get about 23 mpg highway. I wanted an orange but my wife told me to act my age (62) and convinced (made) me to get grey. Can't say enough good things about the Tacoma.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's the same mpg I get in my 2014 V6 RAM 1500

Feb 28, 2017, 9:47 AM

I've had my 2002.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I suggest driving the GMC Canyon if you like the Tacoma

Feb 28, 2017, 9:49 AM

FIL got one as his secondary ride after driving both. And he's had Tacoma after Tacoma over the years.

I bought my wife a inferno Tacoma TRD 4x4 for our anniversary. She loves it. She let me borrow it to drive to the game in Tampa and it was a good ride. I had a guy in Greer put leather seats in it and it looks great. Good luck. BJ

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've been looking for the orange tacoma lately

Feb 28, 2017, 10:04 AM

in fact literally what I was doing before I opened Tnet.

Good luck if you want a slightly used one or want one that is sitting on the lot. Orange is obviously super hard to come by.

I would say if you are going to spend money on a new truck, get a half ton at least....

Coming from a guy who has owned mid size, half ton, and 3/4 ton trucks.

I have a 2016 F150 4x4 crew cab now with the new Coyote V8. Absolutely love it. 16mpg city, 18/19mpg hey.

Also, my company pays for my gas. Another reason I love being in Sales.
