Good day in Charleston, SC

jimandjim.pdf(291.5 K)

My sister and I were in Total Wine looking for rum. She wasn't sure what kind to get for her boyfriend. A very large gentleman came around the corner towards us. He wanted to get a bottle of rum for himself. We happened to be in front of the rum he wanted. We moved out of his way and continued talking about rum. He got his bottle and then said to us that he was a rum connoisseur and recommended the same bottle he just got - and it was regular $37 - on sale for $29. I said I don't think my sister wanted to spend that much. He reached down, got another bottle, stuck it in my hand and then pulled out a $20 out and stuck it in my other hand! I said "Hey man..thanks but we're not destitute". He would not take the $20 back, but insisted I keep it. Before I could protest further,
he stuck his hand out and said "I'm Jim Stuckey". I shook his hand and said "I'm......Clemson Jim Stuckey?" My sister said "#83?". He said Go Tigers! We were grinning from ear to ear. My sister started tearing up and told him how our mother (huge Tiger fan)got his autograph several times in 80 +81 and how he let her wear his Super Bowl ring when he was down at Edisto Island in the early 90's. She wished she was here now to see this. He put his arm around her and kissed her on the cheek. We chatted a little longer then parted company.

He is a big man (I'm 6-1) and looked in pretty good shape. Pig attached.

So what kind of rum was it?? I need to know what Jim drinks, because if he recommends it, then it has to be good!

I played against him when he was at Airport high. He was a big dude. Not hardly any fat on him.

I road over to the Clemson-Carolina game twice with Jim on the BOT bus and talked about the 13-9 loss in Willie Brice on one trip.
