Going to FSU game, what do I need to know?

Nov 6, 2017, 12:14 PM

We are going to the FSU game this week. Since I haven't been to a home game since the 90's, when I just walked to the stadium, we could use some local knowledge. We have tickets, and a friend is mailing me a parking pass, so that's taken care of. We are staying in Commerce, GA which should work out ok I think with a 3:30 kickoff.
How early should we get to campus, how long to get into the stadium, what can you not bring into the stadium?, i.e. clear bag rule, pocket knife, etc.
Anything else we should know?

Thanks!

Traffic will be heavy as always so plan to arrive several hours before kickoff. Use a campus map to find your parking spot and see which route you will need to follow to enter the proper parking area. Traffic is one way in most of the areas on campus, before and after games.

It amazes me at every game how well the traffic flows at Clemson on game day. We don’t give enough praise to those who make it possible. Putting (and parking) 100,000 fans in the proper place in a village as small as Clemson seems to be impossible but it’s done every game.

Have a great visit. Clemson isn’t the same as it was in the 90’s but it’s still the greatest place on planet earth! I’m biased

I'd leave for Clemson before 10 AM!

Not sure how traffic is going to be coming from GA. First game took me over 45 minutes to get in. Don't know what the problem was, so I now start an hour before kickoff.

Go Tigers AND Tiger Nation(al Champs!)!

They said a few ticket scanners did not show up, so some of the gates were down people.

As you go down steps of your section, odd numbers on right, even numbers on left.

Pay attention to gate number. Had a guy at the last game try to go into Gate 20 (upper deck) with a Gate 1 (lower deck) ticket.

Just a few tid bits.
1.) leave 2 hour before you think you need to
2.) Buy all adult beverages and fried chicken on Friday
3.) Do not offer highway patrol officer adult beverage while stopped in traffic
4.) If you have a parking pass your lot may be full when you arrive
5.) After parked lines to porta-john will be about fifty yards long
6.) After visiting john return to vehicle open tables spread food and commence to eat
7.) While eating expect at least three or four footballs to crash into your food and space
8.) Clean up mess and prepare for game
9.) Panic when you can not locate all of your tickets
10.) After locating tickets have one more adult beverage
11.) Begin trek to stadium
12.) After undressing for security to enter stadium look for seat
13.) After finding seat you discover someone else is sitting in your seat
14.) After security removes the people from your seat it is half time
15.) Finally you settle in and get to watch the game
16.) The person behind you pours a large drink down your wife's back
17.) The games ends and you return to your vehicle to discover someone has stolen your cooler you left outside the car
18.) Two hours later you exit parking lot and arrive home at 2 AM
19.) There ain't no place like Clemson-----------GO TIGERS

Make sure that you go to Tiger Walk - Great chance to see the team arrive at the stadium and walk thru the crowd. It happens about 2:15 before kickoff and they walk thru the middle aisle of Parking Lot 5 (West End Zone). Have fun!

Depending on where you park, East Campus alternative to Tiger Walk is the pregame band concert in the amphitheater 90 minutes before kickoff. If you head over to the stadium right after that you will have plenty of time for pregame festivities.

Also, be aware that water & cokes are $4 inside the stadium and other concessions are similarly priced. (How 'bout some $7 popcorn?!) If you are attending with kids plan on spending at least $60 on concessions, even if you just ate.

If you park on East Campus remember the Library closes at 8 pm, so don't count on a bathroom stop on the way back to the car. This is important if said kids have consumed $60 worth of $4 soft drinks.

I always drive in from Athens, GA. I take 85 to exit 2 in SC and come through the back roads that dump me on Cherry Rd. I tailgate in Brooks so it makes life easy going that way. You can take that exit to get to any part of campus depending on where your spot is. I've never hit traffic approaching campus that way.

I'd recommend getting there no later than 11. You shouldn't have any issues then! We usually break down the tailgate and head to the stadium about an hour before kickoff. Our walk is 10-15 minutes, so it gives us plenty of time to see the pre-game stuff.

I'm excited for you to make it back for a game after so long!! Have fun!
