He is making a difference already. Many of the best players from Georgia are from the greater Atlanta area. Collins has been able to dig in a bit already. I don't think his pitch will win recruits over alone - they will have to start winning soon. But, they are on the rise.
I bring this up because we get a ton of players from greater Atlanta! I don't see GT getting to the point where they are a serious threat soon. Not unless they re-do their facilities. But, I see them maybe causing drama in recruiting now! Old Pawl Johnson's system was reason enough for many of those kids to stay away previously.
Not just us mind you - Georgia as well! Why go down to the country(Athens) when you can stay in Atlanta at GT? Georgia's inability to take advantage of all the top level recruits could start catching up to them. Especially if the perception is - it's easy in the ACC. Or "I could go to GT and start but may have to sit 2 years to see the field at Georgia"! Everyone else who cherry picks the area could start having a harder time plucking these kids away. GT has all the potential to be a thorn.
Potential don't mean anything w/o the commitment by the administration though. This may be why; the "POWDER KEG that is The Georgia Institute of Technology" will never reach it's full magnitude. I see just the change in offense and coach(younger and more enthusiastic) getting them half way there though. Opinions?

You are probably correct about Tech making some inroads. But they'll never be able to beat UGA at the recruiting game. And there are just so many recruiting powers all around Atlanta- 'Bammer, FSPU, UGA, Clemson, Tennessee, etc. They'll improve over the next 2-3 years, but it's a tough go for a school known for its engineering geeks more than its football.

I believe you are correct. The last decade GT has been bouncing between 40th and 70th in recruiting. Then, in a year without success on the field, boom - up to 24th. Could be an interesting program to watch over the next 3-5 years, if they are able to start winning some ball games. Could be a emerging program with staying power.

I think so.
At least enough to be ranked yearly. Say between 19 - 25 range.
People don't realize how much talent comes from that area. As ddrm said, TN, Bama, Awbum, UGA, Coots all dip into that area. Collins is an exciting coach who relates well to the new generation of player. I can see his ability to recruit coming in big for the mud wasp!

GT has a great coach that’s hungry in recruiting in the premier hotbed of recruits in the county, I think he will get it rolling there in a few years. Once the image and likeness system gets setup, watch out because they are in nice position moving forward.
