coots pick up another commit. Of course, he's a non-qualifier.

Gamecocks land OT commit
John Whittle

South Carolina picked up another offensive tackle commitment on Friday morning as Dennis Daley (Columbia/Ridge View) committed to the Gamecocks. He becomes the third offensive tackle commitment in the class, but he's someone who will not be enrolling this year. He is a sign-and-place player who will spend two years at Georgia Military College.

Daley, who didn't begin playing football until his sophomore year of high school, was a Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas performer this year. He is 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds.

What is the downside? He has only played for 3 years, he doesn't cost a scholarship, he basically redshirts for 2 years, and if he doesn't pan out and progress far enough we aren't stuck with him for 4 years.

He will still count against your 25 signing limit that the SEC has. Even though it has more loop holes in it than the US tax code.

He will not count against the 25 because he will not be receiving financial aid from USC in the fall semester. Scholarship numbers are not calculated until sometime in September. If he is not enrolled then he is not an "initial counter".

You sure spend a lot of time here rationalizing.***

No downside. But I would assert there is a pretty substantial difference between a fully-qualified high school prospect with 5 years to play 4, who will enroll the following semester, and a sign-and-place JUCO prospect who will have 3 years to play 2, who will - maybe! - enroll 2.5 or at best 2 years from now. Because there's absolutely nothing binding on either end. Guys like these are pure "flyer" prospects, and probably have a less than 20% chance of working out when it's all said and done. Other than the sadly now-dead Cory Groover, who graduated in 2005, I can't remember the last time Clemson ever had one even kind of work out. I don't remember South Carolina getting any value out of JUCO guys either, truthfully...which is why most big programs simply don't bother with them.

Actually they are bound to the original institution. Even though we did not formally offer him a scholarship he will sign the paperwork and then be placed at GMA. He is bound to the placing institution until he graduates from juco. That is why they have the transfer rules set at 3 semesters.

Face it, he'll never step foot on CootU. Quit with your psuedo-rational and face the facts. Sometimes I think you're Phil Kornblut. Cause only Phil could be so delusional and so defensive of all coot-BS spewing banter like that.

You are right he very well could never set foot on campus or he could turn into the next Danny Watkins or James Carpenter(both juco OL who were drafted first round). I am not arguing his ability just the rationale in placing him.

AND I'm not trying to be ugly but you just said in one post that he is obligated to the original binding school then you say in another that he may very well never step foot on campus. YET, you're hell bent on "attempting" to correct us for calling the coots out on this. WELL WHICH IS IT. Why even come here because you know we mock the crap outa you guys. Then when you try to stick up for em' all you end up doing is posting some hypocritical stuff. Like yesterday you stood up for rescinding offers and over signing. Only a SEC homer would do such a thing. And it's pathetic.

Due to JUCO rules he is bound to the signing institution(unless he graduates), but the signing institution is not bound to the player (they can give him a release at any time). That is why different players have different times of eligibility.

I don't care if you mock me. Apparently you have ZERO knowledge of ALL the recruiting rules because if you did you would know the rules favor the schools not the athletes.
