understand his plight. that's why i didn't get to retire from scarng, just could no longer do the physical activities required of a soldier,at least not 24/7. not sure what type of arthritis he has, but for most of the types(r.a., for example,can affect eyes,heart,lungs,etc, as well, and just as bad, as your joints!) i sure wish they had a different name,as people hear arthritis and say , hey, i've got a touch of that! trust me, it's like comparing a tiger to a housecat. good luck, mj. i am pullin' for ya!

Fatigue, stress, and weather (cold and/or damp) are
triggers. Winters can be hard and this wet summer hasn't
helped either. Methotrexate helps, but you still get
flare ups sometimes. And you're right, you tell some
people you have arthritis and they think you have like
a touch of tendonitis or something. Can't imagine playing
football like Jenkins with "moderate to severe" arthritis;
it has to be a challenge and it's kind of inspiring.

About ten years ago something called polymyalgia rheumatica turned me into, literally, an invalid overnight. They did a surgery I didn't need, months of tests, then finally, almost as a afterthought, sent me to a rheumatologist. He knew exactly what it was and with treatment, I was playing golf again in a month.It attacks the major joints, hips, knees and shoulders. Trust me, Martin Jenkins has been through it. This health seminar is over, thanks for your attention.
