Frames for SI covers or whole mags

Feb 19, 2017, 2:54 PM

Anybody had luck finding stock frames for these? Everywhere I go they say the unique size requires a $150 custom frame.

I get the $10 "certificate " frames from hobby lobby for all but the national championship issues. I have those (the renfrow and tuttle issues) custom framed at a local frame shop.

Etsy.Com has a very nice one but only comes in black now . I got an orange one, but they no longer offer. Comes with a mat...around $25

I've found stock frames at Marshalls and TJ Maxx to fit the 11x14 cover print. Prices ranged from $9.99 to 12.99. They are frames without mattes.

I haven't bought a custom frame for a magazine, but have bought a custom frame for a newspaper, with which I am extremely pleased. It was an 11 x 13.5 custom wood frame for $27.89, so a frame to fit a magazine should be at least a few dollars less. The company offers matting as well. Below is a link for the web site from which I bought it.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

If you want it to look nice, go with a standard 11x14 frame,

matte it with an orange matte(or other color, if you prefer), cut slightly smaller than the mag. This will look much better than fitting the frame to the size of the mag.

Shadowbox frames are nice. DYI frames at hobby lobby.***
