Called by specific name?
I've always wondered this. It seems DW4 is not a "former QB". As a matter of fact, he's the only player, that I can think of, that's called by name. Even Shaq Lawson is a "former" DE, as is Kevin Dodd.
Alas, sorry, but Vic Beasley in not a "former DE".

It's a serious question. Think about it or notice from here on out how former players are referred to as.

I'm thinking iron is referring to the headlines of tnet story listing on the front page. Usually the title says "former clemson player..." without giving away the player's name, making you have to read the story to find out who the player is. DW is the only player he can think of that is usually named outright in the story listings. Just a guess since I've noticed that as well.

Exactly. Usually, if it's a lesser known or remembered player you would refer to him as "former player" but the marquee players that every knows and remembers would be referred to by name, such as Lawson, Dodd, etc. but they're not.

I think it’s more click bait than anything. When they mention DW4 by name, I’m going to click on it because he’s one of the few people I still follow, as I would with most people they mention by name. When they say “former DE”, I click mainly to see who it is
