For the 65+ Crowd on Tigernet
Mar 13, 2017, 2:09 PM
|
|
Another year has passed us And we're all a little older. Last summer, it felt hotter And winter seems much colder. There was a time not long ago When life was quite a blast. Now I fully understand About 'Living in the Past' We used to go to weddings, Football games and lunches.. Now we go to funeral homes And after-funeral brunches. We used to have big hangovers, From parties that were gay. Now we suffer body aches And whine the night away. We used to go out dining, And couldn't get our fill. Now we ask for doggie bags, Then go home and take a pill.. We used to often travel To places near and far. Now we get sore a$$es From riding in the car. We used to go to nightclubs And drink a little booze. Now we stay home most every night And watch the evening news. That, my friend is how life is, And now my tale is told. So, enjoy each day and live it up... Before you're too ###### old!

I'll see what I can come up with.
BTW; go ahead with YOUR nap schedule. I should have it done sometime before summer camp ends....
in 2020....

Are you suggesting that we have posters over 65 hear? I just don't believe that period. Tigernet is the largest and youngest Clemson forum with more heart than any other forum. ??

To children, everyone on Tigernet is old, but, for all of us, seconds, minutes, hours, days are the same. Old folks just remember more of them. None of us have personal memories of anything before 1900. Life is an infinitely small flash in time no matter your age.

One of my favorite birthday sentiments .....
Mar 13, 2017, 6:35 PM
|
|
(for those of us whose memory is longer than.....Well, longer than the Beatles' White Album):
"Old and in the way That's what I heard them say They used to heed the words he said But that was yesterday.
Gold will turn to gray Youth will fade away They'll never care about you When you're old and in the way"
(Tip of the cap to David Grisman)

TU just because it's too true.
BUT - we need one for all the things these young-uns missed:
Hoola-hoops Black and White TV (not rassist) Walking miles to school in the rain or snow The Lone Ranger (the real one), Roy rogers, Paladin, Gene Autry, Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp, etc Outdoor plumbing No locks on doors Riding your bike all day to Furman and across Paris Mtn when you're less than 12 yo without supervision Slinkys - I know they still exist 8-track tapes Cassette tapes 45 RPM, 33 RPM records Shooting marbles Monopoly, Scrabble, Backgammon, Chinese Checkers, etc Drinking water from a hosepipe No seat belts - hanging out the window of cars - riding in the bed of PU trucks
These kids don't know what they missed. Poor fellers.

What you talkin' bout? I passed that age a while back
Mar 13, 2017, 7:25 PM

and I still climb trees (during deer season) and went down the back of a pond ### on a snow sled after that age when a 30-something was scared to take the chance. But then I still haven't accepted the fact that I'm not 25.
Since when is D-A-M filtered out as a bad word?
