Well sure, they have the largest weight room in the state

Apr 22, 2017, 4:33 PM

but do they have the heaviest weights?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The heaviest weights are reserved for women's basketball use only.

Apr 22, 2017, 5:07 PM

they don't want the football players to hurt themselves.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Maybe that weight room will come in well for not having to hitch rides on Mike Williams' back anymore.

Well when you take into account that they don't have to reserve any space for trophies and championships you have the ability to allocate that space to other resources

Dear recruits,

We did not have the vision to build the best football ops building in the land, like our rival did. Now we are playing catchup and building something without the bells and whistles. Please enjoy this industrial wasteland video produced by our subpar social media department, which is also trying to copy our rival.

Sincerely,

Head Coot Will Muschump

The funniest thing about it,it's NOT true.

Think they're counting the bathrooms and offices,

Taken from FGF

info from the architects:

http://www.quackenbusharchitects.com/projects/usc-football-ops/

Design started as an intern project. total: 105,000 sq ft vs 140,000 for clemson's; weight room: 18,000 sq ft vs 26,000 for clemson's. Gensler has different numbers, including 33,000 for "weight room + training" space, so they might have increased the weight room size.

Update: Checked the drawings submitted to Columbia for the building approval. The weight room is around 18,000 sq ft (I get close to 19,000 for the whole room, but there are a few offices in the space). They may be counting the cardio balcony when claiming the "largest weight room in the state."

A demolition site is far more aestheitically appealing

Apr 22, 2017, 5:21 PM

than a run down dump next door to the slums.

I think I just did a redundant.

At the start I guessed they were building that at the city dump. What do I win?

That whole thing was just sad! The music was sad and looked like only couple people were working on their new facility. Almost looked abandoned. They don't have much to crow about, or I should say cock-a-doodle-do.

Reminds me of the poem "Ozymandias" by Percy Shelley:

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

And yes, if you're into symbolism, the "shattered visage" is definitely Spurrier.
