"The Big 3" at Clemson

Jul 16, 2014, 1:58 PM

The SEC is about to release an SEC Storied on "The Big 3" at Auburn.

Football: Bo Jackson
Basketball: Charles Barkley
Baseball: Frank Thomas

Who would your "Big 3" at Clemson be?
I'd go with:

Football: Brian Dawkins
Basketball: Horace Grant
Baseball: Jimmy Key

Here is a list of baseball players as I felt most might need it as a guide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clemson_Tigers_baseball

while your list had better Clemson careers their pro careers pale in comparison to who Swann has on his.

Wow...

Jul 16, 2014, 2:24 PM

Have to admit, pretty hard for anyone to compete with Auburn's trifecta in terms of prestige.

UCLA

Jul 16, 2014, 2:26 PM

Football: Troy Aikman
Baseball: Jackie Robinson
Basketball: Kareem Abdul Jabbar

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty good too.

Jul 16, 2014, 2:32 PM

Was thinking about North Carolina (Jordan, LT), but came up very empty on baseball... Walt Weiss, anyone?

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UCLA's is better than Auburn

Jul 16, 2014, 2:45 PM

Just my take

Bo Jackson is a freak and amazing at all levels. Troy did win 3 Super Bowls.

I love the Big Hurt and I respect how he was one of the first to speak out against steroids, but Jackie Robinson is a pioneer and had several movies made about him.

Sir Charles is a great personality, but Kareem's championships at UCLA and the Lakers makes him tough to bea in this one.

Yeah UCLA's crushes Auburn's IMO. If Barkley wasn't a celebrity commentator I don't think it would even be close.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

However, there are some out there who think that had Jordan

Jul 16, 2014, 3:12 PM

not been in the league, Barkley would be known as the best in that same time frame.

my favorite baseball player growing up, I have to agree with you. I can't think of many schools that have pro legends in all 3 sports.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Big Hurt did it naturally too.

Jul 16, 2014, 2:55 PM

It is sad that he got lost in the mix when all those other guys were putting up sick numbers due to PEDs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The numbers got crazy, his sheer size turned against him,

Jul 16, 2014, 3:03 PM

only played on a few good teams, and Giambi out right stole one MVP from him. Matters not though as beat all the roid head to Cooperstown.

What adds to the story is Bo and Sir Charles were on campus together, and The Big Hurt came a year later.
