We were closest to becoming a real ACC basketball program

right at this time.

Tree shows up in 1973 followed by Skip Wise, Stan Rome, and Colon Abraham the next season. All the starters on the 1974 team could have started for any school in the conference or the nation.

We haven't approached that kind of talent level since.

Of COURSE we bent some rules to get'em ... we should be ashamed for not being like the Tar Heels who ALWAYS play by the rules.

Geez. What's really sad is that I had already graduated by then. And that seems like a lifetime ago. I'm old....

Our students were much more likely to attend sporting events during this period. In my opinion, the good old days.

Of course they were

there was almost no chance the game would be on TV, the student seats were on the sidelines instead of the baselines, and the distractions of TV with 100+ channels, the internet, and video games weren't available.

Plus, enrollment was smaller and much more local than it is now, so most of the students were dyed-in-the-wool Clemson fans.

You forgot to mention that there weren't as many ladies.
