According to Dimwich...

Jun 14, 2012, 9:30 AM

"...Memorial Stadium (81,500) is one of the most impressive venues in college football..."

..but 3rd in the ACC? Gimme a break...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

BTW, having been to Doak, it is not all that nice...

Jun 14, 2012, 9:31 AM

I remember my first visit, thinking how disappointed I was. The atmosphere is great, when they are winning big, but the facilities....nope.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree. Doak looks much better from the outside***

all that brick on the outside was no more than putting lipstick on a pig. it is nothing more than a big erector set.

Or the outside

I find it interesting that she only wrote three lines about

us, which is the shortest of the article. I know she has been to Clemson, but you can't tell from this article.

Not ranking solely on football stadiums

Jun 14, 2012, 9:45 AM [ in reply to According to Dimwich... ]

From the full article: "We’re talking total package here, guys, not just a ranking of the stadiums."

Yeah but she is not doing that

I also love the consistency of her work... Some teams she talks about stuff that isnt built yet but fails to mention Clemson's upcoming additions that are in construction phase now.

This is why we get them on campus. So they can see with

their own eyes.

I graduated from Clemson, so bear with me...

"1. NC State: The four-floor, 103,254-square foot Murphy Center is the largest operations facility in the country dedicated to football, according to the university. It’s home to the Pack’s sports medicine, equipment, academics, and strength and conditioning."

How do you have a 103,254 sqft dedicated to football when it also contains the school's sports medicine, equipment rooms, tutoring and weight rooms unless they have a whole nother building or series of buildings with redundant equipment (especially medical equipment) for all the sports other than football. NC State must have money to burn.

If we had the Oculus

Jun 14, 2012, 11:20 AM

We'd be #1 by a long shot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, cause an oculus is a LOT more imposing

Jun 14, 2012, 3:31 PM

than, say, a Pergola! Who's with me?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do our players bench press TVs and speakers?

LOL....I imagine poor Heather's catching heck in Blacksburg

Jun 14, 2012, 2:09 PM

having rated UVa's facilities higher than the Hokies.

Another silly apples and oranges comparison ...

Jun 14, 2012, 3:08 PM

First of all, the number of seats in the stadium is not a "facility" ... at least not in a recruiting sense. 60K ... 80K ... 100K ... recruits don't particularly care. Just show them where they'll be spending most of their time.

And having your academic tutoring in the endzone of an off-campus stadium (Murphy Center at NC State) when the players live and go to school on campus is not a really great situation.

All anyone talked about for years was the unbelievably impressive "facilities" at UNC and now they have fallen to 4th place?

Get the recruits to both campuses, and we will not lose very many recruiting battles to NC State based on facilities ... guaranteed!

Jun 14, 2012, 3:14 PM

Virginia
"has plans for a 78,000-square foot indoor practice facility"

so that pushes them up??

lol

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, it's the pergola, definitely the pergola.***

Jun 14, 2012, 3:32 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Isn't 150,000sq ft facility bigger than a 103,000 sq ft

Jun 14, 2012, 4:58 PM

facility? Man, no wonder those wolfpacks aren't too bright!

All of that NCSU activity is in that one building and it is only 103K sqft. What about our West Endzone size plus Vickory Hall size for study assistance (not like UNC help, but good tutoring none the less).

We have to have more than that! Plus we have the indoor practice arena which will be ready just before the "playoffs!"
