wow, thought that one was a no brainer

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Unfortunately, when it comes to rulings by the NCAA

Mar 6, 2012, 9:02 PM

there is no such thing as a "no brainer."

One of the most crooked organizations that ever existed!

"Gamecocks aren’t ready to take college football by storm just yet. They’re not even ready to compete in their own state – Clemson will still own the territory. Gamecocks fans would be smart to keep their heads buried until that time. Avoid talking trash to a much better Clemson program.” -Dustin Tackett

If he had been in the secheat, it would have been automatic, but we don't count in their eyes. Sad, really that justice cannot be done.

If that is the way it is.....okay, but there should be absolutely no exceptions made.....EVER! If not TONY, nobody else.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Unfortunate, but...

Mar 6, 2012, 11:19 AM

That's the risk you take when you play a guy. If he gets injured during the season, tough break. If he misses an entire season due to injuries, then he'll get the medical redshirt.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

###, how is this fair?

Mar 6, 2012, 11:21 AM

So he doesn't play in two of our biggest games (Auburn and FSU) and has five tackles and a pass deflection in 36 defensive snaps.

Case Keenum threw for 636 yards and 5 TDs yet his got granted in 2010? Come on man. Did Tony play less than Cases' 97 minutes?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Should have been held out until he was 100%. Knowing he

was put into games with the injury probably played into the NCAA's decision.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Partner, I don't think the NCAA makes these calls based on

subjectivity....but then again I'm not 100% sure.

Anyone got the offical rule on this?

THEY DO!! for 6 years also!!NCAA needs to get their butts sued!!

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Right but do they go strictly by games played? For example

Mar 6, 2012, 11:30 AM [ in reply to He played past game 3 (25% of the season) therefore the ]

surely just playing special teams his total play time in minutes on the field must be very low! Whereas someone like Case Keenum plays in less games but much more minutes (and meaningful minutes) and his redshirt was granted...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If it was a new injury, then I can see it. In this case he

played on a knee that hand not healed completely and injured it again. Obviously someone was making decisions with their heart and not their head.

i thought it was the other knee? any player is at risk, but

he would have had to been cleared to see the field.

I do rest my case.

I thought it was a percentage of total snaps. If games,

do they not count the ACCG and BCS?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

official rule

Mar 6, 2012, 11:49 AM

NCAA rules - 14.2.4 - a student-athlete is eligibile if he/she has participated in a maximum of 30 percent of the scheduled games.

We had 12 scheduled games (ACCG and BCS don't count), and TS played in 5 games, so if you count it against 12 scheduled or 14 scheduled it's still over 30%.

CU evidently asked for special consideration and was denied.

That clears it up, at least for me.

wasn't it the other knee?***

FAT TAX NOW!

Well Should We hold him out again

Mar 6, 2012, 1:40 PM [ in reply to Should have been held out until he was 100%. Knowing he ]

His injury this year occured around the same time his ACL injury occured in high school. Obviously he wasn't ready. As much as I want him to play, will he be ready this time around? Seems to me, same injury, same time frame, not necessarily ready to go again. He admitted to somewhat babying it last year, not trusting it 100%. That would be two years away from football now but maybe it would be in his best interest medically and physically to get back to 100%

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Should have been held out until he was 100%. Knowing he

Mar 6, 2012, 9:58 PM [ in reply to Should have been held out until he was 100%. Knowing he ]

His injury was one the opposite knee from the one he injured in high school, so the injuries are not related.

Re: Football Player Update: NCAA denies medical redshirt for Tony Steward

Mar 6, 2012, 11:22 AM

maybe they should red-shirt him this year instead, two tears on one knee, one would think a year off to re-rehabilitate might be good.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

WRONG!

what a shame and disgrace!the c$$ts get 6 years for guy that do not deserve it this much!!it is past time for the NCAA to be held accountable for this bias in favor of ESPNSEC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It won't matter. He has 3 years left and will be an NFL

Mar 6, 2012, 11:32 AM

propect by the end of 3 years anyway. I doubt he would risk a 4th college year anyway with his knee problems if he is good enough for NFL after year 3.

Can't we appeal?***

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not completely sure

Mar 6, 2012, 11:48 AM

but I don't think we can because it was a special request since he played more than 25% of the games

probably should have last year in hindsight

Mar 6, 2012, 12:04 PM

but mid season he hurt the other knee not the one he had surgery on I believe

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But if he was favoring the hurt one

Mar 6, 2012, 3:49 PM

it could have put more pressure on the good one (the one he hurt in practice)

Re: unfortunately,i think he should RS this year and get healthy***

Mar 6, 2012, 12:06 PM [ in reply to unfortunately,i think he should RS this year and get healthy*** ]

It was the other knee...

There is a chance that if for any reason he has another injury prior to the completion of his time at Clemson..later in his career that at that point the NCAA would re-evaluate a possible add on year....

Typically they don't grant the extra year this early....it would be later on...near his senior season.....that this would be reviewed again...if he needed another year....

so all hope is not lost yet on this....hopefully he remains injury free and very successful!

Mar 6, 2012, 1:43 PM [ in reply to unfortunately,i think he should RS this year and get healthy*** ]

I agree with you and mentioned the same thing before reading yours. I feel that it is the same injury around the same time of year as his high school injury. He wasn't ready to come back last year, seems like he should stay out another year.
