Alright you people with baseball smarts...

why give up the out on the bunt?

In my mind it's an easy out for no reason.

Try to hit the ball and advance the runner with a hit not bunt-out.

You don't take the chance of a Double Play in that situation.. In a 1 run game, you advance the runner into scoring position every time..

Figuring top of the order would bring him home with only one

out. It's a move most coaches would make. We lose too many games looking at strike 3. Slaton needs to move out of the lead off role if he can't put a ball in play.

We lost this one looking at balls that were called strikes.***

Time to get TS out of lead off until he gets it together. Move TK to lead off and slide Duggar into 3rd with Okey as clean up. Duggar is not a clean up hitter.
Too many bad breaks and missed calls by umps kill Tigers tonight.

The way Slaton's been hitting I think you pinch hit in that situation. The 2nd base Ump cost us four runs tonight. Missed three calls.

Bunt is statistically the worst play in baseball

you bunt with one out you get one chance. Didn't work out today but in the long run you hit away every time

We are not talking slow pitch

That's moneyball. Which hasn't been relevant since 2004

Teams winning in the post-season are doing so with bunts and small ball, i.e. SF Giants. Small ball is hot right now.

I don't see a problem with them working on bunting in a situation like that, the experience might be worth it in down the line.

That depends on who's bunting and who's running.

When I played baseball a hundred years ago, I batted 4th and had a .365 average my senior year, but I took more pride in getting more walks and more stolen bases than anyone else on the team. I also was the best bunter and enjoyed beating out a perfectly laid down bunt just as much as hitting a smash triple off the wall. The most satisfaction of all was being able to hit behind the runners in the gap to get things really stirred up on a pitcher.... not too shabby for a CF.

Now that I think of it again, I was probably the best there ever was.

Can I have Jack's job?

Okey SHOULD have bunted in the 8th inning with score 5 - 3.....runners on 1st & 2nd and no outs...would have advanced both runners into scoring position....a hit by one of the next two batters would have probably tied up the game at 5 - 5.....Go Tigers!!!!!
