1987 vs. UGA in God's country...

Treadwell hit the field goal with no time remaining to ice the game over UGA AGAIN. He did it to them down in the poop pile in Athens in '86.
My first year at school, standing on the Hill yelling my guts out of my throat. What a day!

That was one of my favorites too. I figured we had already lost that game but came back and took it from 'em. I was so completely stunned that it took me an hour before I was even able to start drinking beer after the game!

very 1st game I ever took the Boss to....as Treadwell's field goal sailed through the uprights and Death Valley erupted, she looked at me and said:
"I've never seen anything like this!"
and she's never looked back.

It was Simmons who had the pick-6 to ice that one, right? Watched that one downtown in a smelly beer bar above the bookstore.

FSU - we will rock you game...had just recently moved back into the area...fun time.
ND - monsoon game...ended up stuck in a parking lot for 2 hours afterwards and just didn't care.
UGA - national championship year...sophomore year at CU...heck, everything was fun about that year.
Coots - orange pants game...happy to say I was there.

Orange shoe game vs. NCSU in either '65 or '66, then beating UGA and Tech back to back in '74.

Frank Liberatore returned a punt for a TD to give the Tigers the lead over nationally ranked Georgia.
We ended up losing that game, but seeing my Dad's excitement during the one play sort of cemented my lifelong enthusiasm for Clemson football.

Taking my son to the game in '92

I think it was against Duke, but not sure. His high school had played at Bessemer, AL the night before (we lived in Memphis). We drove to Atlanta for the night and got to Clemson around 10. We went around campus and were walking down to the stadium as the band marched down. He was very impressed with the size of it and needing 2 drum majors to keep the timing of the 2 sections together.
We easily won the game, and on the drive back to Atlanta for Sat. night he said, "Dad, I thought you were kidding me, but at Clemson it is uphill both ways." I knew then he understood why it was such a special place to me.

Walking out of Johnston freshman year to gameday on bowman, tailgating all day and then a huge win to move into top 10 (I try not to remember VT game the next week).
CJs double move and bolt down the sideline towards the hill (where I was standing) was legendary.

A few . . .

I was at all of these:
Upsetting #10 ranked NC State in 1967 when Clemson came out in orange shoes (NC State wore white shoes, which was rare, if not unheard of in those days).
Clemson beating Geogia Tech at Grant Field in 69.
Upsetting the Coots in 80, first time in orange pants.
Beating Georgia in 81 and 87.
63-17 drubbing of the Coots.
Dominating 3rd-ranked FSU in 2003.
I'm sure I'm leaving some good ones out.

Lot's of them, but the recent ones include:
Aug 11, 2016, 7:58 AM
|
|
* Spencer Shuey shooting through the gap to tackle GaTech's A-back in the end zone a few years ago - THE play that I think started Clemson's comeback to greatness.
* Artavis Scott's sideline tip-toe, stepping on the hand of a Coot defender.
* The crushing stop on ND in the rain.
* Any CJ Spiller TD run.
* Sammy Watkins running over a UGA defender in the open field for a TD.
* Any corner route to Dwayne Allen.
* Nuk's 4th and 16 catch against LSU - and Roderick McDowell's block on the same play.
* Mike Williams' diving TD catch in the end zone.
* Artavis Scott's jet sweeps against the Coots.
* Christian Wilkins' tackle eligible catch against OK.
I could go on and on, but the list would take all day to type. We are very lucky to be seeing this quality brand of football - good players and good coaching.
