I hated Rocky Horror. I saw it a few times for some reason when I was young. I was dragged there by friends. It showed every weekend right next to my house.

Sometime in the early 2000s I saw it for the first time. I'm guessing had I seen it back in the day I may feel just like you.

I'm not sure what a cult movie is exactly, so I ran thru a list of the top 100 and well of those, I've only seen 6 and Labyrinth would be my favorite of them

If you add in 'A huge following of dedicated fans who consider viewing the movie with other fans as a lifetime experience,' my connotation of a cult movie would be completed.
Btw, you took this topic in the right direction. Our definition narrows that field of 400 down to Rocky Horror, imo. I've read that people would dress up as RH characters and act the movie out on stage while it played in the background. Personally, I didn't like it that much.

movie....it's a movie that was a huge hit when released and almost universally loved by those who saw it. It's the least cult-y cult movie I've ever heard of. Same with Goonies. That was a huge flick.

That’s list just made me physically angry.
Just because the 20 year old who made the list had never seen nor heard of the movie, doesn’t mean it’s “cult”.

population.
IMHO a cult movie is one that hasn't been seen by most, or if it has been widely viewed, was only loved by a rabid few.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is about as much a cult flick as Titanic.
Go to any party worth going to---you'll find at least one or two people who can swap Monty Python lines word for word with you.

didn't know so many of my favorites were considered "cult"
Jan 27, 2019, 7:04 PM

one I've seen the most: probably Monty Python & Holy Grail, Pulp Fiction #2
From the list posted, the first one I hadn't seen was #27 "El Topo". Never even heard of it.
Favorite I think is Raising Arizona. Nick Cage's finest work.
