And so is Virginia Tech, who should be favored in the Coastal, and looking for payback from last year, and our instate rival South Carolina, who currently has a 3 game win streak against Clemson.

Maybe so, but Jimbo has been running things for years, they always have had top talent, and they seem to fall short of expectations every year. They certainly have the talent, but so do a number of others, including us.

Interesting that all four have a different #1

In fact, there isn't a lot of consensus. Other than the teams that are ranked, the positioning is all over the place.

Lol Athlon with the surprise pick at #8: The University of Georgia Florida. While Lindy's remains faithful with good old State at their #8 spot.

it seems as if no one can get a read on USuc. No surprise that USA Today shows the love fest of SEC has them ranked so high.
I figure we are solid 10-2 this year. We will split the Auburn/USC games and lose in TalleyHole. Will need help from the Noles to get back to ACCCG.
USuc...who knows. I don't see them being better than last year. Not sure that Shaw can pass. The defenses in the part of the world will shut down the run game and that qb option crap and make him throw. i see them 9-3 at best.

on how well Lattimore's knee has healed. You never know how good somebody will be coming back from an ACL like that

and which uga,uf,tenn. and clemson teams show up. these teams have historically beaten up on the coots, and when all 4 return to playing at the level that is expected of them, usuc will fall back down to earth, hard. and they had better watch out for vandy in the opener.

Agreed. If I were them I wouldn't be worried about Tenn though, Dooley looks lost out there.

Strikes me as similar to when we hired Tommy West, except we weren't on any form of probation at the time.

If the coots were to trip up with Vandy in their opener. That could put them in a tail spin. Probably not, but it could.

Lattimore will be stronger than ever. He has a work ethic like no one I have ever seen. He also has stellar character.

Not doubting his work ethic. Injuries take time to heal especially the knee when you have to make cuts.

....even seeing FlaSt as #1....but seeing unc rated in the top 15 is just absurd. Its the only pre-season poll I've seen so far that has the probation-ridden, cheatin' tarholes ranked.

I would have Bama 1 or 2, but FSU will without question be top 5 next year. I have no doubt about that. I like how he has USuC down a bit. They will be worse.

All publication are really Pro SEC in every sports blog. But the USA Today is the main one that doesn't care who likes or dislike their bias opinions toward every conference except the SEC. The USA Today and ESPN could ride in the same car as best friends....

those magazine rankings.
Dabo's top 10 recruiting classes are starting to pay big dividends in the pre-season rankings.
I'll save this post for reference when the post season rankings come out to see how much we improve over the course of this season to prove those mags totally wrong!
