Great news, whew glad to have him back!

phew.... Thank goodness!

Breathing a little sigh of relief, that's great news! The leadership will be so valuable, and hopefully this'll help Tank's draft value next year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

#8 CB would have meant mid-rounder... Smart choice.***

Great decision for him and the Tigers.

Come on back and help Coach Reed "coach the youngsters up"!!!! And, his Senior Leadership will be an invaluable asset to the defense.

In normal years, probably. This year, thats going to be mid 2nd. This upcoming draft is CB heavy. #8 CB, in this years draft puts him high in the second tier.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that was three minutes.***

Great news. The Secondary will be A-Ok with him and Baker locking down the boundaries.

The difference next year will be the Mike LB will be a better pass coverage guy. That's huge because it lets Venables use the Safeties as he sees fit. Don't have to play Safeties shallow or man up on the TE next year if he doesn't want to.

Do you think Baker will be able to fend off Mark Fields?

Tootie's the man! I'd love to see him returning kicks. He has good speed, good hands, and great field vision. He would be the threat we have been missing.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

1) it's not the return man that's an issue

Jan 18, 2016, 2:08 PM

2) putting the most valuable guy in the secondary, perhaps the entire defense, back for kick returns is a terrible idea especially when we have an abundance of speed nearly everywhere most of which are better suited for returns than tank. Some of our fans seem to think return touchdowns should be an every game occurence and that we should always have a guy like CJ spiller back returning kicks. They fail to understand how special CJ was and how spoiled we were to have him. Kick returns are like a once a year of furnace if that.

Clemson has used other valuable players to return kicks. We need our best players on special teams.
I've seen Tankersley play for years and I know what he can do with the ball in his hands.

will definitely help his drafts status to get another year and will help backfield leadership tremendously for the Tigers! Congrats CT!!

Awesome! What i love the most about Tankersley

Jan 18, 2016, 12:14 PM

Is his open field tackling. He does a great job of tackling in open space and run support. I remember seeing him blow up Henry on one play, seems he plays with no fear

Re: Awesome! What i love the most about Tankersley

I can see why they make that comparison but, Tootie is a hair faster. He is more aggressive than Maxwell was and is better able to recover if he gets a little out of position. Cordrea, IMO, is a better athlete overall too. However, I think Maxwell was a little more polished at this stage.

Tank had a great year and his game really improved. I think he got better due to Alexander locking down the other side of the field. Getting picked on forces you to play better. Smart choice for him to come back.

All but Tank! We lost Mack, Green, Kearse. Grateful for Tank's return. We need him, his experience and his mad plays. He is the ONLY returning starter on secondary

Everybody has an opinion of why people do the things they do without any facts, and their opinion like mine is merely a guess. My guess is that Tanks family has worked hard all their life and is set to where they can afford to do what is best for Tank, and they feel that his education will always be the best for him bc they do understand that a chance in the NFL is a gamble. They understand that a degree from Clemson will give Tank a better chance at life success even if he has a career ending injury in sports. They know that Tanks degree from Clemson will always give him a leg to stand on, injured or not. That is a win win decision regardless of the direction Tank chooses after he graduates college. In my opinion, that is the smartest choice the Tankersley family could have made for themselves. It's also my opinion the smartest choice that any junior could make bc no one knows what the future holds, especially in a sports career. A bird in the hand will always be better than two in the bush, just saying!!!

Knowing his family, I know they want what's best for Tootie. Pro football careers are relatively short. That degree lasts a lifetime.

It doesnt hurt that

Jan 18, 2016, 2:51 PM

They can seek he advice of family, ie. cousin DeWayne Bates. If you look at some of the kids that come out of Silver Bluff, they do seem to put an emphasis on education. DeWayne went to Northwestern. Corey Chavous went to Vandy. They can also look at other Silver Bluff alum and see that the NFL, can chew you up and spit you out no matter where or when you get drafted, ie. Former 1st rd. Pick Troy Williamson. There was another kid that graduated from Silver Bluff around 2002, that went to Wake Forest. I think he was a FB. That little 2A school, has produced some serious talent over the years.

That other kid was D'Angelo Bryant. He is now coaching high school football. There is currently another Bluff player in the NFL. There are numerous Bluff players that received scholarships. We had one that played for the Naval Academy.

That's one corner on lock!

Jan 18, 2016, 2:14 PM

So glad you made the right choice! The ones that left early will regret it the rest of their lives! I know I have! I can't get those two years back no matter how hard I try. I know the draw of the NFL is huge. But, you only get to experience college once. It's fleeting. It's the BEST time of your life! Not the most successful, but some of the most fun you will ever have! Savor every second of it! We have one corner we can leave on an island! Maybe Fields will develop quickly enough. Make no mistake about it, without Alexander we won't be able to play those zero safety deep defenses we played this year. We will have to play a more conventional defense. I look for Jaylon Williams to step into Blanks role and outplay him. I also expect to see so,e decent safety play as well. We aren't as bare as the world thinks! I'm already making plans for a Tampa trip next year to support our Tigers!
