The outlook is sounding better and better

Aug 5, 2016, 2:51 PM

on Trayvon Mullen. The feedback from different players is sounding pretty assuring after losing Alexander last year!

It's great to hear Wallace is already working hard and "he

He's telling the truth...

Aug 5, 2016, 2:54 PM

He should have been given more snaps. Especially when it became obvious that Kearse wasn't giving 100% out there.

I think Kearse was giving 100%

Aug 5, 2016, 5:49 PM

Kind of like when people thought Batson should be canned. Kearse just didn't thrive all year for whatever reason. The coaches would have noticed lack of effort.

I hate to pile on but during the Natty:

Derrick Henry td....blew right past Kearse

Kenyan Drake kickoff td...blew right past Kearse

Onside kick....kicked straight at Kearse.

I think he was so hyped for the NFL that he coasted. The hard part for him was the scouts noticed and he got drafted in the 7th round.

Good guy, great player, appreciated his time at Clemson. Just the folly of youth.

I also agree that Johnson should have gotten more snaps.

Bama has some amazing talent.

Aug 5, 2016, 10:04 PM [ in reply to Re: I think Kearse was giving 100% ]

They exposed a lot of players this year. Doesn't mean those players being beat weren't trying. I think Kearse was giving it his all and was just being exposed some. I just highly doubt Venables nor Dabo would have been fine with a player just not trying. Unlike many on here, they obviously thought he tried coming into the game. Maybe Kearse didn't try, but that is highly unlikely imo. I think he was just exposed some against great talent in some cases.

you missed one

Kearse also inexplicably stopped chasing Howard at the 10-yard line on his first TD.

I hate to argue with Venables, who probably knows more about defense in his little toe than I do in my whole body, but as an ex-defensive back from back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I think both Kearse and Green "freewheeled" a little too much last year and relied on their speed to make up for being out of position on too many plays. I will forgive them on defensive plays in that Alabama game because they were trying to help the young cornerbacks out with shadowing them after the injury to Alexander. And our scheme was at fault on that onsides kick as much as anything else. I had kinda expected someone to try that outside-onside kick all year the way we lined up canted to one side of the field on normal kicksoffs.

Not sure what happened with Jadar last spring and summer because I thought he was a sure starter coming into last season. His sophomore year I saw the potential but hopefully this year he can lead that secondary..

There is no better fuel than having something to prove.

Aug 5, 2016, 2:56 PM

He just may be right about them being better this year (with exception to Mackensie Alexander).

He should have gotten more

Aug 5, 2016, 3:37 PM

Green was solid the entire season but Kearse just didn't seem to care down the stretch. So many coverage busts it was ridiculous. Giving Jadar an increased amount of snaps hopefully would've lit a fire under Kearse to give more effort. But I guess the coaches didn't think he was ready enough to throw him out there. I think it would've made a difference though.

If you watched the weigh in video, you would notice that this guy is stacked. Thinking he weighed in at 217 and solid as a dadgum brick. Hopefully his performance reflects his off season workout regiment!

I felt like he deserved more snaps too***

He is my niece's favorite player

Aug 5, 2016, 5:44 PM

He took the time to sign her shirt out on the field after the only game she got to go to last year. Now she says "Jadar's my guy. He's the best." She called us up after he intercepted the pass in the Miami game to tell us that her guy was ballin'. He made us a fan of his because of this too.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree. I think Johnson is going to be great.

Aug 5, 2016, 5:46 PM

He is a gamechanger.

Aug 5, 2016, 10:36 PM

Wasn't it Jadar that had the interception to end the Louisville game?
