You're correct. And copperheads are venomous. Definitely not a snake you would want to pick up, even as a baby.

Not a copperhead. Hopefully Huegel knew that. It would be pretty stupid to pick up a baby venomous snake.

Unfortunately I'm not much of an expert at ID'ing snakes other than venomous/non-venomous but it's a beautiful animal, whatever it is.
