I like the sound of them too but it loses it's luster when you can sleep through 6-10 fighter jets starting up and taxiing at 0400, less than 200 yards away.

Nov 19, 2015, 9:48 PM [ in reply to It's the $$$ ] The real cost are fuel and maintenance cost. If there are no repairs, the only cost is fuel. The flight hour cost you see on the internet include sometimes the cost of salaries of both unit and depot level personnel. Sometimes they include the cost of the aircraft. Money is not the issue, believe me. I was the flight budget officer for the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve squadrons for three years. It now is the perception/belief that the military should not do the flyovers due to our need to use our limited resources on things other than flyovers. Can't argue with that.
