enough with the cargo planes, they did that last year, a flyover is supposed to be 3 gut shaking, teeth rattling fighter jets!!!

I guess they have better things to do elsewhere in the world these days.

It's the $$$

It costs around $25k per flight hour for the C-17. 3 F-16's would be somewhere around $75k, 3 F-22's, about $215k. I like the sound of them too but it loses it's luster when you can sleep through 6-10 fighter jets starting up and taxiing at 0400, less than 200 yards away.

And like the post before you said" there's more important places for them to be these days. They should get the national guard to fly A-10's over. No better sound to a grunt in the Field. They sound like a monster off the old Godzilla movies. Plus! They devastate all in the way. Very impressive.
GO TIGERS!!!!!

The direct flight hour cost are much less than your numbers.

The real cost are fuel and maintenance cost. If there are no repairs, the only cost is fuel. The flight hour cost you see on the internet include sometimes the cost of salaries of both unit and depot level personnel. Sometimes they include the cost of the aircraft. Money is not the issue, believe me. I was the flight budget officer for the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve squadrons for three years. It now is the perception/belief that the military should not do the flyovers due to our need to use our limited resources on things other than flyovers. Can't argue with that. In Jax, the Air Force Nationial Guard would do the flyovers in their F15's. Great stuff!!

I swear I remember like five WWII fighters flying over last year, not a cargo plane.

I think you are correct. I remember some old warbirds too. A c17 is going to look so slow
Lol

And if wake doesn't allow 60 points, then they don't support the troops. That makes them unAmerican. Low-lifes!
