They will have more conference games & travel costs would be my only concern. It has nothing to do with being 'scared'...strange response you got there.

They shouldn't have more games because the CAA has fewer baseball teams than the SoCon did this year. Travel costs might go up a little with having to travel to Hofstra and Northeastern, but there are enough close by teams in NC, VA, and with CofC that other than those two outliers it should be a wash.
I can't see any reason why they would want to drop us, and we certainly wouldn't want to drop them.

This is going to put a real hurt on the Southern Conference. There has been speculation that Chattanooga is looking at leaving as well.

yea teams like Furman need to be looking for an exit strategy and quick. Citadel as well. If they don't leave then they need to pick up Mercer and some other area teams ASAP

..and with Samford already being a member the SoCon has never been as good a fit for UTC as it is right now, especially since with App State and GA Southern moving up to FBS the only real power team left is Wofford and maybe Furman if they can get their act together. UTC has the easiest path it has ever had to making the FCS playoffs, something they have only done once (1984).

SoCon is going to have to resort to picking up schools like Presbyterian, which is going to make it a joke OR they are going to have to expand their footprint, which is really going to hurt financially.

They could expand the footprint west. Mercer is all but ready to be invited and Jacksonville State in Alabama is sending out feelers.

very small, academically elite school. Their desire to play big time basketball yet field a non-scholarship football team full of kids with 1400 SATs made the Atlantic 10 a perfect fit for them.
