Easy to see how valuable Shelton Mitchell is to this team

He is one of the best ball handlers in the acc. There is so much that he does on the offensive end that doesn’t show up in the stat sheet.
He had a fantastic game yesterday. We don’t win that game without him.

Nobody wanted Shelton Mitchell back more than Gabe Devoe. Mitchell is the entire difference in the devoes game. Devoe is on fire and then only plays bad 2 games without Mitchell then when Mitchell comes back Devoe is back on fire.

We were fortunate most of the season to have 4 players who balanced each other out very well. When we lost one, the others had to adjust but were able to compensate. When we lost two, it put an awful lot of pressure on DeVoe. Glad to see Shelton healthy enough to play again, both for his own well being and for the good of the team.

Yea and Reed is the type of guy that can handle pressure like that. Devoe isn’t THE guy which is fine. He needs help around him to create shots. Plus with reed or trapp handling the ball gabe doesn’t get as good of looks. We’ve found out Mitchell is the most important piece to the puzzle

Hopefully CBB has a transfer ready to come in and take his spot when he leaves after next season. It seems we need that commitment coming up though if that player has to sit out a year.

Our Freshmen guards will be much better with a year under their belt. Clyde Trapp will be surprising alot of people in years to come. And all we will out of Cootlumbia, is how we cheated to get him; when they were so sure he would be a dirtpecker.

I really see it when it comes down late in the game, he has fresh legs and without him we would lose our lead and start getting beat down 1/2 way through the second half it seemed.

One play really jumps out when Mitchell was able to draw 3

defenders into the paint on a drive from mid-arc then kick it out to Skara on the baseline, over to Reed near the top then quickly over to DaVoe III to the right who had maybe an extra foot of space to shoot this time but it was enough, and a big difference.
It's painful for Donte missing out on this run. I really hate it for him. He was showing NBA scouts a legit player up until the ND game. Worse for fans is seeing how there are no juggernaut teams in college basketball this season we were in a position to accomplish something pretty special with that skillset on the court. I hope he recovers well and gets proper cred come NBA draft time.
We can still be Clemson special at least - a trip to the Sweet 16 would definitely make that list. And we might have the guys now to win an ACC tourney for once. If we can stay healthy from here out, claim a double bye with two more wins and some charm, there's no ACC team out there that we can't outscore over three games.

Yeah. One play in particular I saw was when we were in transition, he began to drive, passed to a driving marquise Reed, and that gave the angle to reed to odd to Thomas for an easy dunk.
Doesn’t show as an assist on the stat sheet, but that play happened because of Mitchell.

The worst we can do this season in ACC Basketball is a 10-8 season that is better than anyone in college Basketball ever expected us to do. But we could have a 12-6 ACC season if we win both games we have left to play. If we spit the two games left, we will still have a better than average ACC win loss record of 11-7, and that is a big improvement from the last half dozen or so season!!!But it does hurt to thank about what this team could have been without the season loss of Donte Grantham, and the few games we didn't have Shelton Mitchell!!!
