There is only one move that will save the ACC.

Nov 28, 2012, 12:02 PM

No one wants to hear it, but adding ND full time is the only way the ACC trumps the Big 12 and claims the 4th Super Conference spot.

It's not a matter of competition. It's a matter of money. Adding ND to the ACC full time and creating an ACC network (already in the works) would level the financial playing field with the BIG, PAC, and SEC. It would create HUGE $$$$. Like them or not, ND has a national following, therefore an ACC network would have a national subscriber base.

I don't know that ND will ever join the ACC. I don't know that they won't either. However, that could be the deciding factor in the 4 Super Conference showdown.

ND joins the ACC, no one leaves, and the Big 12 is picked apart.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

ND would have been a player even without sniffing the BCS

Now that they're in the BCSCG, they are first-team again.

of years. All independents will be in a conference of one sort or the other.

If they have to in order to play in the NC game, they will.

What is the incentive for them to join a conference, esp ACC

They are more of a geographical fit for the B1G. Yes, I'm aware much of their alumni live and work on the east coast, thus they still fit from a fan-base perspective). It seems like the B1G has been a better football conference over the last decade. They have 3 football schools whose stadiums seat 100K+.

Also, it's no secret that their fan-base has an ego thing about maintaining their independence (and their traditional rivalries to an extent, but it's more about the independence). It's just another thing that makes them "special", in their eyes. Don't underestimate how important this is to their fan-base and administration.

I just don't see it happening. I don't disagree with your premise and this post is not meant to be in agreement/disagreement with yours...just trying to add to the discussion.
