Just saw ESPN show on the custom designed & painted Cleats for NFL players..

And I'm blown away and want some! Does Clemson have a Cleat design(s)!

Cleats is any sports shoe with protrusions for traction. In track, we had spikes. Which were only over the ball of the foot. They screwed in & out. We also had spikes in baseball. They were over the ball of the foot, and heel. They were metal like the track shoes, screwed in & out, and were replaceable with rubber ones. Then we called them cleats with the rubber knobs in. Just a little FYI. I don t know how much terminology has changed since the late 80's to mid 90's (the end of my sports days), but that's the way it was back then!

I never thought of that before, but in baseball with metal spikes we called them "spikes," but in football with the rubber "protrusions" we called them cleats.
