Asking for a friend: The car port collapsed

under heavy snow and damaged my friends car. The appartment says they are not responsible and are not planning to pay. Besides forcing the owner into your trunk, what legal rights as a renter does she have to get them to fix her car.

something like, the management is not responsible for damage to vehicles in the parking lot.
Usually applied to rocks from lawnmowers etc but I’m guessing would stand in this case.

I doubt she has much in the way of legal rights as a renter, and chances are the apartment complex had a lawyer cover all contingencies in the rental agreement. I'm guessing this will fall on her vehicle insurance, ultimately, but given that laws governing rentals are probably subject to differences at the state, county, and city levels...there's most likely a 0.00% chance of getting solid legal advice from anyone who doesn't live in her vicinity. My best advice would be for your friend to arm herself, take hostages, and negotiate automotive repairs against innocent human lives.

Not as poor as me.
My original car port was closed in to make a "sun porch". Then a three bay car port was built.
I have since closed in the three bay car port and made it a workshop and we just park the rides outside.
No $hits given.
