COVID19 is real, not a hoax, not a Democrat conspiracy.

Oct 6, 2020, 12:24 PM

Donald Trump has mislead millions of Americans but millions are smart enough to realize the deception and as a result Trump's idiotic hubris has set back the conservative movement for a generation.

We didnt need an unconstitutional mask mandate but just using the bully pulpit of the white house to encourage mask wearing and social distancing would have gone a long way. H3ll, just keeping his mouth shut would have been better. Instead, following the President's lead, we have people who truly believe that its all a hoax and the masks are just socialist tools. ### is wrong with you people? I went down to SC this weekend and it was eye opening. I had one acquaintance tell me they drive 10 miles out of their way to go to a Target that doesnt require masks. Another said point blank that covid was a hoax and masks did nothing. Another said we wouldnt hear anything more about covid the day after Biden wins the election. Another that its only "black people" who get it. And, now, the restaurants are back to 100% capacity. These people are all Trump disciples and are taking marching orders from that idiot.

I firmly believe that if President Trump had actually led on this issue, he would be cruising to victory right now and the Senate would be a lock. In other words, better than any conservative in 100 years. Instead, the Squad is about to multiply exponentially and we're all going to get A.$.$. raped with new taxe$.

Re: The problem is Trumpkins take what he says so seriously

Oct 6, 2020, 1:01 PM [ in reply to The problem is Trumpkins take what he says so seriously ]

Him being the leader of the Free World, and all.

Putting out that "don't take him so seriously" thing is just the worst kind of intellectual dishonesty, especially since the vast majority of his jokes appear to be test-balloon propositions, like, let's just throw this out there and see how this goes. It's more like that creepy guy who makes inappropriate jokes about young girls that leave you with the distinct impression he's doing a little bit more than making an inappropriate joke. I myself never take my eyes off that guy again...like, ever, because there's such things as glaring red flags and Trump is a parade full of them.

Put in haiku form, it goes kinda like this:
A man can troll by Tweet
Or a man can lead the Free World
But never both.

Actually I think that's eighteen syllables instead of seventeen, but you get the idea.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The idea that a few comments about masks would have

Oct 6, 2020, 12:59 PM

staved this off is fantasy. Europe's recent experience confirms what many have said all along, that a certain number of people are going to get it, and have to get it, before it ceases to be an epidemic, and even then it will never totally go away. The only variable is the speed with which it happens.

With few exceptions, the locales - states or countries - that had high early case loads are now on the downswing, while those with low early case loads are now seeing the "second wave". The EU now has more cases than we do. In our case, what is often ignored is that the number of fatalities is dropping dramatically as the cases are spreading among the demographics not at risk. Any guesses as to why we don't hear about that?

We have allowed ourselves to be talked into the idea that "new case" should be spelled "New Case!!!", without regard to testing rates/techniques and actual hospitalizations and fatalities. Once that is done, once the word "Case!!" is isolated from reality, one can go manufacture bad news, and that is exactly what is happening.

If the Dems win this election, there will be much pontificating about being proactive, an extremely expensive and destructive initiative will be undertaken, the virus will take its largely predetermined course with little change, and at the end "success" will be declared. Shoot the most expensive arrow you can, find it when it falls to earth, and then draw a target around it. It's coming.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I strongly disagree. I spoke with people not two days ago

Oct 6, 2020, 1:16 PM

in suburban SC who think this is a hoax and they believe these things because of what they hear from the White House.

And we're not talking a few statements. Don't minimize that. There has been a non-stop stream from the white house on covid whether from tweets, press conferences, or speeches not to mention body language. The president could have taken a different approach and we'd be better for it -- conservatism would be better for it as well.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-conservativealex.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Disagree with what? What a person in rural SC says or does

Oct 6, 2020, 1:25 PM

has nothing to do with anything I said. It sounds like you want somebody to be mad at, and they're convenient. The rural South Carolinians, your fellow citizens, are causing this? That's just unsupported finger pointing. Which, if that is your proposal, would that everyone were like us. Have you seen our hospitalization and fatality rates? Falling like rocks.

I was discussing the inevitability of the spread of such a contagious virus, as evidenced by the nearly identical experiences - over the long term - of most locales, regardless of strategy. And I discussed the illogic of focusing exclusively on numbers of "Cases!!", without relating it to testing and fatalities. What that has to do with your friends in Possum Kingdom, who are not stupid, by the way, I don't know.

Oct 6, 2020, 2:28 PM

doesn't fit the narrative. The narrative here is:
- Masks work
- Trump was blase' on masks.
- It's all his fault.

The first two statements are conditionally true, to the degree that the last one doesn't even begin to follow. Nevertheless, to point to anything that doesn't support the Trump-caused-this narrative will label one as a mask denier.

We will end up having the same experience - and now it looks like better - as many countries that imposed draconian measures. Regardless, the narrative is that its all Trump's fault. Europe? SC is outperforming Michigan? "Nanananana...you're a mask denier...nanananana..."

I like my chances

Per the data, not wearing a mask is a bigger risk to you

And to others. You're simply selfish, is all.

You earned my respect for admitting this

I don't like it took true Conservatives this long to realize their leader is a Con Man, and that it's going to come back to bite them - but better late than never.

I voted Conservative Party in 2016 as I felt Clinton was indeed crooked and Trump had no core ideological principles. He has surprised me by delivering on many of his promises. However, his demeanor has been very hard to stomach. I voted for Trump this time based on the fact that he has delivered on many things that I approve of, but more so because the Democratic Party has shifted significantly to the left. Biden is going to win. I can only hope the GOP keeps the Senate. If so, nothing from the left will be enacted into law and Biden may well have the ability to work across the aisle to get a few meaningful things done. If the Dems take the Senate, abolish the filibuster and pass laws by a simple majority and no bipartisan input, our country may be headed to total chaos. Most of the country is still centrist to slightly center-right. If we get a big dose of Schumer-Sanders-Warren----AOC and the squad pushed on us, things could get very ugly.

That is a dream world. The lines are set and no one will ever cross the isle again. Its being pushed from the top. Biden will not be in office too long if elected. They will force the idiot out.

Trump never said it was a hoax.

Whoa, tap the brakes a bit. Only “black people” get Covid-19? I haven’t even heard CNN pushing that narrative regarding Trump’s supporters. That’s far too anecdotal for my tastes. Look, I don’t disagree, Trump needs to tone down his Covid-is-not-that-bad rhetoric. The other side also needs to tone down the Covid-is-killing-everyone rhetoric. The actual seriousness of Covid lies somewhere between the two. Unfortunately, both sides have politicized it for their own perceptive benefit.
I definitely think the swelling goes down after the election, regardless of poll results.

Yes, Yes, a million times Yes. I live in upstate SC and I'm still amazed

at how many people that refuse to wear a mask in the grocery store for 10 mins. Blows my mind. Even at businesses that plainly state that masks are required... they stride in with that smirk on their face... you know what I'm talking about... that By God This is Murica And You Can't Make Me smirk. It's some kinda "southern macho thang" combined with a good dose of late-night AM Radio conspiracy theory...

A lot of folks on FB have been very consistent. Walmart is requiring a mask? Well, they just lost my business, I'll go elsewhere. I value my personal freedoms more than some idiotic libtard attempt to kill the economy and make Trump look bad. All the mask-wearers are "sheeple" who need to "educate themselves". The irony is rich. So far I have refused to even engage these folks... it's just not worth it.

It's sort of a "Hey Y'all, Watch This" mentality, without the karma/satisfaction of seeing someone on fire.
