Probably could have upgraded his stock to a major championship professional debut if he'd stuck around another season smh

As the US Amateur he currently have exemptions into several PGA tournaments. None of those are guaranteed for next season. Right now he can go pro, land a few sponsors and hope to make a few cuts to fund future tournament travel.

Hope he plays really good in the tournaments he has coming up and makes a it on the Tour right off the bat,but he might have to at some point cut his teeth on the Web.com Tour and earn his card again just saying

I thought he was Junior but he is only a Sophomore.Good luck to Doc and hope he makes a lot of money and wins a lot trophies on the PGA Tour.

I thought he would wait until after the US Open to make his announcement. I am not certain, but I think he may lose his USAm exemption into the Open by turning pro now.

Yeah pretty sure he's giving up his US Open and Open Championship exemptions by turning pro.

But maybe he went through sectionals and qualified for the US Open anyway. No idea.

I guess he was just ready to try and make some money.
