I carried a rocket launcher. It wasn't practical, but when I hollered "run chickens" it was funny watching the feathers fly and those short skinny yellow legs scatter in the yard. ????????

Now that I live in the country away from chickentown I just carry my double barrel in the gun rack of the truck like a good redneck. lol. Joe G knows. lol.

If its cold and I need a jacket, I carry a Ruger 1911 chambered in 10mm with custom loaded ammo from DoubleTap. 220 grain bullet chrono'd at about 1390 fbs, or almost 900 lb/force. More than a .41 Magnum but just shy of a .44 Magnum.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I am really torn on open carry...

May 5, 2018, 10:07 AM

Personally I consider it a totally idiotic idea when modern guns are so easily concealable, but on the other hand, if some fool wants to show off and make himself "first target", that gives me a great chance to pull my concealed gun and off the bad guy while he is shooting said fool. I kind of like that idea. It could be a great way of thinning the herd of bad guys and dumbaxes

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I am really torn on open carry...

May 6, 2018, 3:24 PM

I like the idea just for the fact that people know we’re armed in public. I think it’d open a lot of liberal eyes if they actually could see the people that do carry. Maybe seeing could be believing since they can’t seem to think right.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

One of things I was taught was that I have two..

May 6, 2018, 7:52 PM

responsibilities that come with being armed in public. One is to protect my loved ones, myself, and others if possible. Two is not to frighten or intimidate the general public. I take both seriously by hiding my weapon as well as possible and I must do a pretty good job because even cops don't seem to realize that I am armed.
Open carry is at best being a show-off and at worst frightening to people who do not know me from Adam's house cat to know whether I am a "good guy" or a "bad guy| intent on robbery or rampage. Liberals seem to be fully aware of how many of us there are and quite honestly, idiots like "Open-Carry Texas" and "Open Carry Missouri" with their silly intimidation tactics, seem to be their best weapons to depict us all as gun-toting nuts outside mass shootings.
I have sat in diners in hunting areas where everyone had their guns with them and that is not a problem. But open carry in suburban or urban areas is simply foolish and frightening to others, not to mention setting yourself up as "first target" and everyone close to you as innocent bystanders in the line of fire. Bad guys who are going to shoot tend to "spray and pray" and are notorious for not caring about the innocent as drive-by shootings have proven time and again.
No, not a fan of open-carry.

Yes, but unfortunately, no CCP. Thus - as my 9mm was stolen out of my car in Pigeon Forge - I now keep a .40 cal (Taurus PT140 Pro) ‘with me’. That way, if it’s stolen, I’m not out huge $$.

Once I get my CCP/W, I’ll get a nice gun to carry.

btw: really like the Kimbers - hear/read good things about them ????????

80% of the time I do. One in the truck. One in the bedroom. One in the closet. Several in the shop. One in the pond house.

43 or 19, the 43 May be gone soon for a sig p365. I want the one with the new sights they are shipping now.

Also want a p320 but want the ones with the new triggers.

Bottom line, I think these polymer, striker fired sigs May finally be the glock killer for me.

All of my guns are the hunting variety, not the weapon type. They are over a thousand miles away at my parents’ house. I do carry my Chris Reeve Sebenza in my pocket everywhere I go. In the unlikely event something happened out in public, I’d just side step to the aggressor avoiding hits to my vitals if at all possible until I could get the Sebenza in his neck and help everyone I could manage to. Anyone who came in my home would have rather I had a gun instead. I know my way around in the dark and would treat him to my GB Small Forest Axe.
