since this over excessive technique of bringing a ball carrier to the ground is unwarranted imho most times and this p/u & slam ball carrier to ground is what hurt & knocked out our QB KellyB at Cuse last season.
My fav player Ben Bullware liked to do this Slammer Em Down Technique & each time i shuddered for the ball carrier’s life..plus he was penalized once or twice for it.
I didn’t really see the tackle well from film so maybe it was OK..and yesterday in post practice presser DaBO had no problem with XT’s tackle and even joked about it.
What do you think?

Yeah but you cant differentiate practice from games. You play like you practice. He was just doing whatever he had to do to stop the ball carrier from gaining positive yardage or making forward progress.

Suplex type body slam. He was low to the ground and just spun him around. It wasn't excessive, it didn't appear he was trying to intentionally hurt the guy.
Describing this as a body slam was really just sensationalizing the story. We have to keep a high level of intensity at practice or we'll lose our edge in games.

Not much to it really, more of a stop forward progress and spun him backwards and around to the ground. Nothing at all like Boulwares German suplex technique.

Its football. Ppl are trying to soften the game too much now as it is. I understand safety but when you decide to play football, you know what you are getting into. Also, adrenaline plays a big part in some of these types of tackles. You are just trying to do whatever you can to bring the ball carrier down and not really thinking how you are going to do it.

It really wasn't excessive . XT didn't land on him or drive a shoulder into him . It looks pretty much like an arm tackle to me.

at its best. XT is a stud of a lineman and studs destroy ball carriers . Ask Blackman as FSU what it feels like to get hammered by a stud LB.
If this worries you perhaps flag football may be better for you .

The only thing I will say XT is a 5 star and WR was a walk-on. Slam the 5 star Rbs and you will get some props. Probably half the team could slam MacLain the walk on WR at 175 lbs. I agree it's football shine when you can.
