Did you notice our last kickoff was a pooch kick?

Jan 2, 2017, 9:56 AM

I like Dabo made adjustments in our kicking.
Punts were all rugby style and finally we made a kickoff adjustment too.
Sometimes we kick it in the end zone but Saturday all kickoffs were short and line drives. Glad Dabo made the needed adjustment and the last kickoff was a high kick which landed around BC 15 yard line and returned to the 28. I'll take it.

If I live to be 100, I will never understand why....

we can't seem to find a kicker who can kick the ball out of the back of the endzone EVERY FRIGGIN' TIME and eliminate the possibility of a big return entirely.

Lemme know when you find a 100% free throw shooter too!***

A lot of other teams have kickers....

who boot it through the back of the end zone on every kick.

Did you watch the ACCCG and the VT kicker?

For those that have kicked or coached the position

Jan 2, 2017, 10:51 AM

Does a kicker get "dead leg" ( I know insert your cw42 or penicillin joke here) similar to a baseball pitcher with a tired arm? At the beginning of the year Hugel was booming the Kicks 5 yards deep. Just trying to understand why he can't do that now.

He's never done it with any real consistency***

See my post below. I think the air was heavy or the ball was just not carrying in the dome.

But, yes a kicker can absolutely get dead leg.

Our defense demanded a chance for a shutout. Half a field wasn't considered a problem by them.

Sometimes the kicker has a bad night, sometimes the ball is just not carrying like it usually does. It seemed to me like the air was heavy at Glendale inside that dome. Jmo.

The long kickoff return we gave up, we had one guy up the middle that got out of his lane, then he got knocked on his ### to boot. They had a middle return on and they found that lane.
