As long as they play the same number of games, even if they have to play through December, right up to the semi-finals, assuming they are still ranked high enough.

They should just come out with an admission they screwed up, and start their season along with the rest of us. Since they will only be playing each other (if they follow other conference models) all teams would be in an equal state of preparedness. Starting a month late is going to Fubar things, unless they play straight through with no bye weeks, and play an 8 or 9 game schedule.

I have heard from multiple sources that the big 10 has still been practicing as normal, so they should definitely be prepared for 10/10 game. Pac 12 on the other hand has not been practicing so they have no hope or plans to play.

Dan Patrick just said on his show that his source he tweeted yesterday was very reliable about the target date of Oct 10th on B1G starting. Not all teams will play. This was spearheaded by Trump's talk with Kevin Warren. If they are going to play that will be the date. They have to have all their T's and I's crossed n testing protocol so it isn't a done deal yet.
