How are teams like Ohio St and LSU DBs allowed to grab jerseys and arms all game long and it be excepted? Just because they are known as being physical should not give them a pass past the rules. I have no problem with a team being allowed to be physical within the rules. These guys aren't "feeling" out the space while turning back. They are pulling, scratching, grabbing, and so on (way beyond 5 yards from LOS). Definitely makes it to where the DBs can play a lot more loose. Seems it would also aid in development over time, in turning to find the ball versus facing the WR and trying to play his movements, with the ball approaching my blindside.
Why would we not do it too? This is obviously how a team gets an "elite" secondary.
Both should have equal right to the ball in the air. Enforcement always seems to let the O guy get away with more grabbing and shoving for the ball. I dont like the imbalance and I dont like the allowing any grabbing if youre over 5 yards downfield.
