Curious why you always have your QB pooch punting

Aug 30, 2020, 12:04 AM

I understand the long snapper isn't there and the back up was garbage. Why don't you just put the normal punter at QB to make these pooch punts, especially since it's obvious to the other team that's what you're doing?

THe other team knows for sure what you're about to do and can put a guy back to receive the punt. In this case the defense had to honor the chance there was going to be an offensive play on 4th and 2, which meant know one was back to take the punt, and they got about 15 or so yards on the bounce and roll

Because you want to make certain your quarterback understands the importance of foot work.

The initial idea is get the other team jump offsides with a hard snap count and possibly confusing the defense/ coaches.
