Crazy Weird stat abut LSU's (3) National Championships.

LSU's (3) National Championships:

1958 (claimed) - Finished 12-0 defeating CLEMSON, 7-0 in their bowl game.

2003 - Finished 13-1, beating OKLAHOMA, 21-14 in the BCS National Championship.

2007 - Finished 11-2, beating OHIO STATE, 38–24 in the BCS National Championship.


As if their 3 National Championships came after beating the same 3 other teams in this year's playoff isn't strange enough, all three of these bowl wins came in,....you guessed it, the Sugar Bowl.

FWIW per Tim Bourett final polls happened prior to bowl games until the 70s. So while the did beat us in their national championship season, they techincally won it prior to playing us.

But, okay.

We dog walked them up and down the field in the 4th qtr of the 2012 Chick Fil A. But that's not the connection being made here.

It really wasn't a "national championship" as defined by today's ranking. It's just that they ended up #1 after beating us 7-0 in a bowl. Billy Canon was their star! I listened to the game on Armed Forces Radio while stationed on Taiwan.

maybe the more relevant question is “how many national championships has ellisU lost in New Orleans?” Because that is the likely outcome this go round.
