Hmmmmm, your comment makes me wonder if you would stand there and let a woman slit your throat. I bet not, not ever a 13 year old girl. But thats right, its a double standard for atheletes right. They are so big and strong that, that the knife won't cut as deep. Some of you guys try to appear in the public eye as, not me, I would just walk away. B/S!!! If it were happening to you, you would try and beat the living sheet out of them. No matter if it was a young/old man/woman boy or girl. Until it has happen to you, you don't know what you would do. Punish the guy for going there to begin with but, do nothing for him protecting him self....

He was not allowed to run in the NCAA track meet where he qualifed in his events so you are wrong...there is a game (meet) involved. That's a pretty strong stand.

he is suspended form summer workouts while the university process proceeds.
He says he will deal with whatever the university hands down not supercede it.
I think Mr. Craig will get more than summer workout discipline also

and see what happens with the school first. Then proceed from there.
If Craig is booted or suspended from school there is nothing Dabo can do about it. The football coach can not "supersede" the school in authority.
If Craig doesn't get booted from school, then it's up to Dabo to determine Craig's status on the team.
"supersede" means to out rank or replace authority ... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/supersede
I think you meant Dabo will not "precede" the university by ruling on Craig until after the University process runs its course.
"precede" means to go before

he will let the school do it's thing, and if Craig remains enrolled at Clemson he will deal with the football end after that.
I really expect for there to be more than a summer suspension with the details I have seen.
Of course they will get a lot more info on this than any of us will.

Spurrier suspends. Reinstatement depends upon the results of the investigation.

Police said that after an argument earlier in the day at a pool party, Craig showed up at Wesh's room in Clemson House armed with a silver towel rod.
Investigators said that Wesh then cut Craig's forearm with an eyebrow razor, and Craig hit her in the forehead with the towel rod. Wesh later told officers that Craig also beat her while she was on the ground.

Spurrier would have kicked him off because he is not projected as a star and he needs the scholarships. Dabo will probably wait until the facts are in. You see this kind of thing doesn't even make the news in Columbia, there's just too much of it, population accounts for that. Clemson doesn't have a lot of media outlets that have reporters attached to them so it take a little longer to trickle out to the public.

Can you not read? No wonder you didn't get accepted to Clemson.
Craig has been suspended from the team until action from the university and law enforcement is taken. Dabo has said, in the article which you didn't read, that he will examine the situation after that.
What the #### is so hard to understand about that?
And you're going to law school.

USC has had MANY issues in the area of your school, at bowl games, at their homes.
You can't try to change this one by saying it's worse because it's "on-campus."
That being said, Joe should go.

this might be a drawn out issue with the university because of how complicated it seemed to be. If it comes out that he did do something really malicious, then I think he might be suspended for more than the summer. So, not a Spurrier suspension in my opinion.
What role was he expected to play this year?

Spurrier has forced many folk off the team. It is only the team leader and starting QB that he gives unlimited "last chances" too.
I have no idea what actually happened between Craig and his girlfriend and likely never will but I suspect this isn't the end of this matter.

No big loss, in my opinion. If Craig can come back and play, he has a lot of work to do as a WR.

This is a University issue, not a Spurrier like call. I am from Gaffney and in favor of punishment. BUT comparing this situation is nothing like what is going on in Columbia. Craig and all student athletes need to represent their University with high respect. If they don't want to respect their school that is PAYING FOR THEIR EDUCATION WE do not need them!! PERIOD!! we need to wait before handing down judgements that COMPARE us to the RATS down in COLUMBIA until the university gives a full explanation of what happened that night

it is a spurrier style suspension for hitting a woman, not showing up somewhere having had some drinks or missing curfew

"he said, she said" kind of deal. The university will sort it out, and Dabo will do whatever is necessary once the facts are clear. Some of you guys have zero understanding of the way a judicial process works.

Exactly.Dabo may not need to kick him off of the team becuase the kid may get kicked out of school. By the way coots, this situation is nothing like the Mcdaniel situation. Seems like you need to be worried about garcia rather than our guys. Go back to you coop!

Maybe the disciplinary methods need to be examined
Jun 8, 2011, 10:12 AM

If Clemson's disciplinary methods are so good, why do Clemson athletes keep assaulting people. There's been the Cumbie case, McDaniel and now Craig. The only issues at Carolina are thing like curfew violations or underage drinking. Thats pretty tame and pretty typical for college students. Assault is a very serious issue and if it seems to happening over and over, maybe your disciplinary tactics need to be examined.

with our athletes assaulting girls or much smaller individuals as has happened at Clemson these last couple of years. At least not without immediate expulsion.

Turman was 8 years ago and Giles was suspended for academic reasons. Is that all you could find?

Those are the 2 that pop readily to mind. How about Cook with his gun on campus? Or how about Jarriel King and his kidnapping charge PRIOR to ever coming to campus? I am not trying to defend Cumbie or Craig's actions, but I am pointing out that your doorstep is not exactly clean with regards to assault type infractions. As for McDaniel, his situation was thrown out because the girl never showed up for court if memory serves. And you can't very well take away a kid's future on an unsubstantiated allegation (unless you play LaCrosse at Duke).

The issue was Spurrier's disciplinary record
Jun 8, 2011, 2:04 PM
|
|
And the results. I was saying that under Spurrier major incidents like assault etc. have ceased over the last several years. At Clemson it seems they have picked up over the last several years. If anyone's disciplinary policy seems to be failing, it would be Clemsons.

Spurrier couldn't control what happened before his committment. Sounds like another testimonial that he hasn't been in any trouble after Spurrier got hold of him. good job coach!

actually, wasn't he one of the 5 or 6 players involved in the Whitney scandal? I mean I commend him for not kidnapping and assaulting anyone while he was at USuC, but it's not like he was spotless either.

ok so while Dabo has been head coach, we have had 2 incidents...the first athlete was summarily dismissed from school AFTER the investigation was completed. The second is still under investigation. Seems like situation is under control.

Summer workouts are voluntary anyway. Doesn't seem like anything harsh. He'll still get his workouts in.
