Coots are Soo Screwed in This Coaching Venture

Nov 12, 2020, 11:54 AM

Nobody and I mean nobody of any coaching cache' is going to go there without a HUGE paycheck. USUCK is the equivalent of a toxic waste dump Superfund clean-up job that no one in their right mind will touch for less than $6-7M/year because they know the odds are strong once their first contract is up or half way complete they will have to step way down, take a buyout and revert to coordinator or tier two head coach.

Possibly they can attract a low FBS or middling FCS coach, but any rock solid up and comer will go to a program with a future.

Maybe Rich Rodriguez is ready for his last chance.

I'm sure they'll offer Stoops a bundle of money to come out of retirement - maybe he's tired of retirement also.

If these retired coaches don't necessarily need the money, they certainly don't want that failure to be at the end of their coaching resumes.

At this time, the coots could not even afford any former B10 convicted felon/Asst Coach working for minimum wage within the correction dept's work-release program.... although the coots should have a lot of experience navigating those waters.

"Chicken Curse" would have when it was levied all those years ago?

See the origin below for you'se younguns that may not have ever even been told the real story.

Here's your South Carolina history lesson. The "Chicken Curse" started in the late 1800's when former South Carolina governor and U.S. Senator "Pitchfork" Ben Tillman, along with Thomas Green Clemson (heard that name?) tried to convince the state of South Carolina on the need for an agricultural school to help the poorer farmers of the Upstate. USC's donors at the time were the richer large landowners in the Lower part of South Carolina and were not fond of another educational institution in the state. After all the drawn out frustrations of the State Legislature trying to prevent a new school, Tillman threw a pitchfork into the ground on USC's campus and claimed the University was cursed and doomed.
