I wanted to put quotations around " 1980's glory days " but wasn't sure if you can quotation inside of other quotation marks .

I wish I knew how to deny reality as well as a Coot . They're living in mass denial and a sort of ignorant bliss and I am a little bit envious .

In the computer world, I think we had to use 4 sets of quotation marks to make one quotation mark appear on a screen or report. """" = " Go figure. Not sure how they came up with that. Sorry, very old computer geek that might not remember everything.

The modern version of that (in Excel) is to precede numbers with a ' in order to make them appear as text.

They had one decent team in 1984 (a team that lost to Clemson). Otherwise, their teams from the 80's were all mediocre at best.
1980: 8 - 4
1981: 6 - 6 (lost to Pacific)
1982: 4 - 7 (lost to Duke and Furman)
1983: 5 - 6
1984: 10 - 2 (lost to Navy)
1985: 5 - 6
1986: 3 - 6
1987: 8 - 4
1988: 8 - 4
1989: 6 - 4
They also went 2 - 7 - 1 against Clemson during that decade.

The article referenced both "Black Magic" and "Black Death". In today's world, "Black Death" is a very bad look for a number reasons but what do you expect coming out of Columbia?

I hope they play Alabama in the afternoon with those black unis. They will have another reason for their behinds drag plowing furrows in the field. and there is not artificial turf now. Their groundskeeper actually uses that mower they bought in the 80's.

That was during their steroid scandal. I was a student back then and made a t-shirt with a cartoon of a syringe on it labeled "black magic" when they came to campus to play. I thought it was pretty funny.
