Conference Record has got to still mean something!

Mar 12, 2019, 12:40 AM

i mean it's unbelievable that some of these teams like TCU and Ohio st. who have a 7-11 conference record, not to mention on a losing streak to close the season, are more likely to make the big dance then Clemson according to these so called experts.

We are 9-9 and have played 3 top 5 teams, hands down- the best conference... Why even play in a conference if you can go way under .500 and still make the tourney...

Agreed, and even worse I keep hearing about Indiana with an 8-12 conf record and 17-14 overall record. No way the Big10 should be getting 9 teams into the big dance. However, I expect the conference tourney will thin things out.

I agree with you but let me play devils advocate. Clemson's resume isn't great on paper- we're 1-9 in Quad 1 wins, only win was vs a VaTech team that was hurt significantly by injuries. We do not have any really bad losses though (maybe Nebraska who is 6-14 in B10, or Creighton who is 9-9 in Big East).

Indian beat michigan state twice, wisconsin once, and Louisville once. Those 4 wins are better than any win we have. All season they played up and down to their competition.

So comes down to the age old question - which is more important? Good wins or good losses?

Doesn't matter in the end. We're going to take care of State and then shock the world with UVA tomorrow

Go Tigers!!

One other point I'd like to make from the other side of the argument for these bubble teams - when you play in the ACC and Big 10 you have multiple chances to boost your resume. We had 10 Quad 1 games and only won 1. Is that better than a team that only had 3 quad 1 games and won 2 of them? Who knows!
