That is not an accepted definition of "torrid" in American English. Sorry. Kudos to you for copying and pasting the definition you found in a British English dictionary, but we are not in Britain.

Well which poll f'n matters? Or which one does ESPN use, so dumb having 4 polls that are night and day different. We're def a top 5 team in my mind, how can you not be at 15-1 against pretty solid competition.

I personally like the D1 poll and the Baseball America poll. I think those two have a good number of staffers who are able to actually watch and go to games unlike the other who I’m sure just watch here and there on TV and check box scores after the game.
