Death Valley needs a Visitor's Center...with statues of former

Great players and coaches...like a Hall of Fame...

Please God no...ur either a millenial or a bandwagon Tiger...

Clemson is above that trash. Universities that do that worship individuals & not the accomplishments of the school as a whole.

Many people seem to agree something is needed. Your comment is baseless and distasteful. Stay classy my friend.

I was thinking a 60' long or so banner

to hang off the side of our stadium with a full size image of one of our great coaches. Just to class the place up a bit.

A visitor's center or museum would be a great idea

Jan 26, 2019, 4:52 AM

with or without statues. Statues are a little
boring IMO; i mean, you can tell more what somebody
looks like from pictures. Anyway, memorabilia would
be great. Most of us have never seen the Country
Gentleman and i've been a fan since the early 70s.
And few of us know much about Banks McFadden, Clemson's
only 2 sport AA, or other Tiger greats like Fred Cone,
made famous by Jerry Clower. And only Lightbulbbill
and Hartins remember when Heisman was coaching lol.

And stuff from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and this century
would be great - like the '74 undefeated home season
Coke bottle, the Tiger Rag, Death Valley Disco, the
'81 NC orange soda cans, the SI with Perry Tuttle on
the cover, the life size poster of Fridge, and stuff
from this century and the incredible run this decade.
Was there some kind of trophy for the '81 NC?

I'd pay a few bucks to visit such a place, as i'm sure
most of us would. And maybe some of the proceeds could
benefit a charity like the ALL-In Foundation or Habitat
for Humanity.

You joke, my Friend, but I remember Heisman

Jan 26, 2019, 6:29 AM

very well.

He's the coach who invented the outdoor toilet after tiring of fans taking leaks around Bowman Field during games. Hence, why they're called "Johnny Houses."

A Visitor's Center would probably be well-attended, if filled with enlarged old photos and other memorabilia. Not sure about the statues idea. And I'd bet our buddy, Bill, would volunteer to sit around and relate his experiences...providing there's an ample supply of his favorite rum!

I think it might be fun. There's a lot of interesting memorabilia that it would be fun to view.
.
Statues are too old school for this generation, I'd like to see holograms. Something interactive so you could hear coach Howard and I'd really love to hear Heisman try to explain his hasty departure to tech!

Love this idea too minus statues. A rotating video of great plays, players and coaches would be better. Memorabilia, history. Etc...
Not any different than a military museum which I find fascinating. It would be a huge hit with fans.

Speaking of Death Valley Disco, I ran into the guy, Otis Forrest , who composed and recorded that song
last nite . (saw , not collided )

you can visit the lobby areas of the Reeves Football Center and see the trophies, the rings, lists of AAs, uniforms etc.

Would be kind of nice if they had somewhere with all the sports greats and memorabilia like they used to have lining the hallway of Jjervey back in the day.

I see people all the time from out of state stopping by the hill to see it and the stadium while I’m running around campus. Would be nice to have some kind of visitors center. I’ve actually had people stop me wanting directions to Death Valley. Clearly, the interest and demand is there.

College football stadiums don't need visitor's centers IMO***

As a historian and college professor I would take a different path. Take part of the new football facility and create a short, but meaningful video of Tiger football history. There is an opportunity here and Dabo and the administration need to take it and run so to speak!

Take a portion of both Death Valley and or LJC and again create a hall of history with displays for the heritage of both sports. Clemson is at a point where frankly all sports from golf to soccer could be highlighted. An avenue of statues of Clemson football coaching legends would be rather expensive and yet historical recognition is really important to show visitors the unique heritage Clemson has in the sport.

Just my thoughts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think that would be an awesome idea.***

Jersey Athletic center used to be just that before they moved all trophies and memorabilia yobrhe west-end zone. I spent many a pregame browsing through and checking out the coaches office. Even got my picture with Frank Howard once.
