College Football TV Markets

May 16, 2012, 3:53 PM

I came across this article concerning realignment and TV Markets in college football. I understand that when the SEC wants new TV markets people think NC State and Va Tech. I also understand that by NEW tv markets, it essentially means new states.. But this article considers all tv markets pooled together and Clemson is the only ACC team in the top 10. Even though the SEC is looking at new states, Clemson obviously has a certain brand. Look at us compared to other ACC schools, especially NC State.

I still would like to know if it will make a difference academically as far as research money the University will recieve?

As this sum is MUCH more than anything athletics bring in.

How do you anticipate a conference change affecting research money? Are you thinking that if the academic standards around us change then the academic side of the university will take a direct hit from research finances? I'm not doubting you, just wanted to get clarification.

You can stop there. And that's the problem with the SEC as far as Clemson, FSU, and GT are concerned.
