No Fly Zone

The Clemson secondary has a slogan for this season, one that defensive backs coach Mike Reed hopes will help make the game fun for a talented but young group of defenders. Where did he get the phrase? What does he say about Jayron Kearse and Mackensie Alexander? Full Story »

This is exciting!

Definitely looking for a big leap in out secondary this year. We've got the talent. Any word on when Blanks will be ready to play?

Correction: "The 12 to 15 games the Tigers will play..."

The DL = grenade launchers for blowing up the back field, DBs = fighter pilots enforcing no fly zone, the LBs = warthogs RB killers, DE = sniper kills enemy commander!!! :)

I would say 13-15 games. It's a safe bet we'll go bowling***

Defense win ballgames, Offense makes you look good. Here a new logan for the entire defensive unit before they go to battle this season. "OPERATION SHUTDOWN"

I hope it also means no fly routes...

We got burned on those a number of times last year.

So did Alabama....***

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

Needed him here few years back against Matty Ice

when game was winding down....gggrrrr

He probably could've helped, but that secondary was really good

6 guys who were on the roster in the secondary that year went on to play in the NFL, and two more (Chancellor and McDaniel) were certainly good enough to play professionally. We actually were much more talented in the secondary back then, which might explain why the defense was always highly ranked back then.

The issue in that game was LBs...Matty Ice was the king

of the dink and dunk offense. He took what our defense gave him, and we NEVER put an LB on the RB out of the backfield. So what did Matt do? He dumped if off to the RB over and over and over...

Coach! Trademark it now!

Otherwise Espn and other SEC affiliates will try to coin it like Auburn did.

Don't accuse FSU of using your new slogan. We used it last year, and a SB Nation article in March said FSU looks to prove Tallahassee is the home of the "No fly Zone."

Oh!

Oh! I thought that was "no pay zone". Lol. I kid I kid.

I stand corrected....Coach don't trademark it, you'll get sued!

How about, "no unauthorized oblong ball made of pigskin" zone. Kind of catchy.

I can't remember the last time I was this excited about our

The secondary has a lot to prove. What I have seen in the past has not been good! The breakdowns in the secondary have been pathetic. Ssfeties and corners not only have to defend the pass, but also be good run supporters. Someone has to support the run in m/m coverage! No mistakes, don't make it complicated. The better the athlete the simpler the assignment should be. Also, a nastiness, not required at other positions, must be achieved and maintained. Toughness and physicality are a must. We need four ### kickers out there that receivers fear.
