Clemson's ranked #23 currently, Pitt is ranked #24 in US News top public universities.

I'm not sure why WVU has that chant, they're ranked #99. Seems similar to when USC tries to make fun of Clemson or UGA academics

Pittsburgh is probably the school with the lowest reputation among national universities in Pennsylvania. You have UPenn, Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, Lehigh and the likes. So, the choice would be Pittsburgh if you can't get into any of those in Pennsylvania.

It has nothing to do with West Virginia though. It's pretty much like South Carolina brags when SEC teams win.

What an absurd thing to say. The University of Pittsburgh has a 3.5 billion dollar endowment. That's billion with a B. They are an AAU member, and rank 17th in research and development spending among national universities, and are top ten in federally sponsored research funding. I would be through the roof if Clemson had the academic resume of Pitt.
