40-50 pitches on a closer is way too much and it's taking it's toll on Spiers now. He was phenomenal before this inning.

Another thing I can't understand. They know after 30 pitches he normally runs out of gas. Sad.

Wouldn't you rather have a tired Carson Spiers than any other bullpen pitcher at this point?

No, as the next two didn't give up a run and a tired Spiers gave up 2.

That happened this time. The % are in a tired Spiers favor though compared to ANYBODY else. Just unfortunate today. I could only imagine if Monte took Spiers out and brought in Holt to blow the game. Everybody would be saying "Why would you take Spiers out when he's your only good reliever?"
That kid would throw for me over anybody else anytime
